Megane Street Tyres for a CUP S Megane

Nice one Andy, have you had an RS CUP S? Are the $S better on the street?

Also, my tyres skip when im doing slow manouvres, worse in the cold but they still do it in summer, however, the winter tyres ive got on now dont skip, so, if the cause for the skipping is the LSD (Ive heard some 4wd mercs do it) then could the winter tyres be putting too much strain on the gearbox because it was the differential in my gearbox that went and it took 6 months to get a replacement under warranty which has now run out.

I would guess the sticky summer tyres feel like that on hard lock because of the grip, winter tyres have less outright grip and allow slip on lock which is why you see the difference. It is likely the diff though, you get it real bad on the rear of a 21 Quadra when you hit the diff lock switch and turn on lock.

If its worse in winter on the PS2 wouldn'tthat mean its lack of grip?

Michelin PS4S. They do them in both 18” and 19” now, best all round tyre i have used on the megane.

Skipping on full lock or just under is normal on the meganes regardless of tyres, its to do with the geometry/suspension setup.

I was watching tyre reviews on YouTube, he compared the ps4s with Goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 5. Based on that review I'm gonna go for the Goodyear. For its thicker right protection as its almost the same as the ps4s.

Ive got a set of those goodyears on a set of wheels here, not used in anger yet, however the lad i bought them off reckoned they werent as good as the michelin equivalents as he had used both. My mate runs them on his Bm with the same opinion.

Still prob not see much difference normal driving unless really pushing on.

It was the longevity and grip that impressed me with the PS4S. I can’t compare to the ass5 as they weren’t out when I had my car.
The cup 2 though are a performance level higher than the PS4S. The cup 2 are a track tyre you can drive on the street. The PS4s a street tyre you can drive on the track.

Yeah its a road tyre I'm after, putting the P4 Alpin on in winter, it made going to the shops fun, like it cornered on rails so to speak, the cup 2, to me, are no fun until there's heat in them, and is the primary cause of the incident with my Mrs, they were close to the wear line which will also be a factor but having an outside wall that's nearly slick has cost me a bomb. A good road tyre is the sensible option.

Yeah it was freezing, it was new years eve when we had the snow, I found out I had the night off work that night, so as a treat my Mrs shot out to buy supplies and cook me a special meal with champagne and all the trimmings. It was the day after getting my car back with a new gearbox that took 6 months! I wasn't happy, can't be too hard on her though cos it was caused by her big heart.

Yeah , one of them!

Just take care in the cold. The more focused the tyre the worse it is in the cold.

I have had a wide range of tyres thanks to 540bhp and RWD. The PS4S were great, but as good as ditchfinders in the cold.

I've run MP Supersports, MPS4 and now running Eagle F1 Supersports.

And tbh, I'm a big fan of these Eagle F1s! Longevity wise, I cant comment.

However, as mentioned, the PS4 is magic all rounder and they last really well. Reasonably priced too.
