Steering Wheel Replacement

:welcome: to the forum Chris.
What you after a new wheel, re-furb or after market?
Try Paul at Renault Parts Direct if your after new, sure he could sort you out :approve:
Some guys over on cliosport doing re-furb with new leather etc.
Or maybe a sabelt/renault race wheel LINK

I recently got a replacement wheel for my Ph1. I didn't like the original Ph1 wheel LINK. I wanted a Ph2 wheel but without the Cruise Control. The Clio 182 Trophy steering wheel was just what I was after - 8200237795 - Airbag for this - 8200432120.

Paul over at RPD went to a lot of effort to source this for me. You can see it fitted on my blog LINK. Paul is now looking for a silver badge as the blue one isn't really in keeping. Top chap and well worth a call.

Before Paul found the 182 wheel, I bought a knackered wheel from eBay with a view to getting it refurbed. I have a coachworks trimmer local to me and they quoted about £100 for a full leather refurb (in whatever colour I wanted!). I still have the wheel which is going back on eBay.

I been advised not to buy secondhand airbags as you never know if they are working or not.

i can see where you are coming from with this, and its everyones choice, but......
parts for these cars are getting very scarce, some not available already for ph2. so if you want to fit second hand airbags get the vehicle scanned after fitment. and i dont mean use a mickey mouse obd reader or codereader, you need to get a proffesional scanner to read the resistance values of the seperate circuits as live data, this will show any faults in both the air bag and or the wiring.
also bear in mind that airbags are all dated, their life being quoted at 10 years, so what happens in an 11 year old vehicle?
sometimes there is no choice but to fit second hand.

RPD does not have the original MK1 V6 steering wheel that came with the vehicles from new.

I ordered one from RPD recently (this month) to find that the part Renault supply is very similar but does not have the suede effect surround with stitching but rather a leather effect surround with stitching.

Sent it back as personally i liked the original look/feel.

Anyone know someone who can refurb a Mk1 wheel with original material ? [smilie=thanks.gif]

Hi guys

MK1 Genuine Renault V6 Steering Wheel, see the link below -

http://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/ind ... t&Itemid=1

This is the genuine Renault product but I have been told it is not the same as the MK1 original steering wheel. It is the only version you can order from Renault.

Price is now slightly cheaper after a Renault price change - £278.75 Inc Vat and free delivery in the UK

To be fair I did advise that you should not fit second hand airbags but I do agree with what you are saying Spike. I am sure if you did fit a second hand airbag and had it all tested to make sure it is ok then it maybe would not be a issue.

Anymore parts info needed let me know chaps

Cheers

no complaints & refund offered immediately with no issue when i said i was sending replacement steering wheel back as i didn't like it ( compared to original )

now that's how to provide service [smilie=yay.gif]
