Spring polish

Looking to give the vee a good old spring clean, maybe a clay bar, snow foam orbital polisher ;)

Just interested in finding out what you have used, and what worked the best?

Has it been stored over the winter months? If so, wouldn't really bother with the snow foam pal.. I'd tend to use that to help remove and break down the grime from the salty roads if it hasn't been stored.

Give it a good strong wash to remove the old wax layer, if you have a DA polisher, go over the car with lime prime or lime prime lite depending of the cut you require. If it was mine I'd go over it then with Megs #7 glaze, then a wax coat or two of your choice. Personally id still be using a good winter wax such as collinite 476 or 915, Valet pro Aramis is a great pre wax cleaner also, makes my 172 flamer gleam.

If you fancy trying a bit of the Aramis, pm me your address and I'll gladly send you a sample to try out.

Unfortunatly i had to bring it out of the garage a about 4 1/2 weeks ago so it has been experiancing some horriable weather and looks like turd at the moment. Been looking around and a lot of people seem to rate snow foaming so might invest in a lance, was also thinking may need a good clay bar too!!

I really rate the dodo products used them for a while, due some expences from work so maybe i will treat the clio to a little present

Yeah the foam is good stuff, add alittle shampoo to the foam for alittle extra bite aswell..I only use the foam on customers cars in the winter anyway, but still worth the investment.

Just dont go too heavy on the mixture as you will undo your efforts waxing, as it will strip it off..

It all depends on what you are wanting to achieve, but perfection takes hours or days. You can use a DA and will achieve a good result but it will take longer but is a safer way if you don’t polish a lot. You will get a faster and arguably a better finish with a rotary but you do run a small risk of burning though the paint.

I would snow foam, wash, dry, iron x, wash, clay, wash, dry, correct, wax, and seal. Lime prime is ok as a gentle cutting paste (dont use lime prime light as it has not cutting ability) lime prime is oil based so will fill scratches so can be difficult to see if you have complete correction. The oils fill and as they dry over weeks they appear again. You can use a IPA wipe down after polishing and will give you a true picture of the paint finish as it removes the oils.
