spikes exhaust

New Member
hi,
as you can see from an earlier thread, I fancy a new exhaust for my phase 2 , after ringing orbisound , I gave spike a ring and had an interesting chat, has anyone got one of his janspeed collector pipes and rear silencers fitted that was on the group buy ages ago ?
again any info will be welcome, e.g. sound, quality, ease of fitting,

thanks
mick

I have one, got to say i'm very pleased with it. I didn't fit it though, it was done at S.G. Motorsport. It sounds almost standard on tick over and gentle driving but when you rev it the sound is fantastic. Scott at S.G was also very impressed.
I would reccomend it.

Mick

thanks mick, spikes going to ask janspeed to knock a few out if they will, but he didn't want another fiasco like he had last time with them,
spike thinks if 3 were ordered they would make them up, spike would like one (I found it strange why he did not have one on his car), and I'm tempted between the janspeed collector and box , or just an orbisound silencer,

thanks
mick H.

Hi Iain,
spike mentioned they would be a bit dearer than earlier owing to a V.A.T. rise , but around £500 was estimated ( the exact figure isn't known yet)
When spikes spoken to janspeed he's promised to ring me with all the details,

mick

I also have one from the group buy, I fitted it myself. I love mine and I'm not sure if its my mind playing tricks but the sound seems to have matured over the few months its been fitted, perhaps its because its got sooted up a bit! Its not overwhelming like some aftermarket boxes, its a great upgrade from the standard system, it howls at high revs, is just the right level around town and has a fantastic burble and pop on the overrun. Best purchase I've made so far for my vee!
Oh and it was a mission for Spike to get these made up, it wasnt the easiest process if you take a look at the history of the thread in the Group Buy section, you'll see why!

Thanx girls for all your support, i will have a word with janspeed and try my best.
Are there any sound clips or vid of this in action, if so please post.

Please? Can some post the vid up ? I'm dying to confirm I want one if spike gets the thumb up.
Just wanna hear it !?

Nigel

If/when I ever get to drive my Vee again and I've cancelled my order for Noah to build me an ark, I'll get some in car sound files and maybe some drive by's (remember folks never try to record and drive at the same time!)

hi all, i have contacted janspeed with regards to making some more of these and this is still up in the air, i have said there are members waiting for them and hopefully this will kick the job into action. what did not help is a forum member openly slating janspeed by calling them "piss poor". hopefully i have smoothed this over and can now get to the job in hand.
As i have been writing this janspeed have actually rung me back promising that they will make a start within the next week, sounds promising.
May i remind members that this is an open forum and comments regarding others however slight and seemingly unobtrusive shoud not be posted, thanks.

Since you've put all the hard wok into getting a jig made up and waiting around for it, why don't they have a few pre made and ready for demand? Not putting the product down, just seems daft making a good jig and then struggling to get hold of some.

I did see and here one at gaydon. Like others have already said, sounds great in the fact its like an OEM part only slightly more vocal.

Spike you can name me in ur posts I don't give a shit m8,you slated mine a yr ago.
It took you a year to get some made after paying a huge cost to make a jig and have the rights to produce further exhaust once janspeed can be arsed to make any!
I remember over heating on centre of box so had to be redesigned slightly
Tail pipe pissed
Flange bolt holes didn't line up
Now to me that is piss poor workman ship or poor managing of the project if you ask me
I hope janspeed are reading this cause they should be embarrassed for the quality of the service and product that you have received

Thanks for that remark, really helpful. probably all the faults you describe were due to poor managment of the project, it is funny that you have so many comments on this but you did not buy one, are you speaking on behalf of another disgruntled member?
As for slating your exhaust it was more a passing comment with regards the flanges being modded and if you care to look back through the posts my problem with fitting the silencer from the ph1 to the ph 2 was that the pipe dimensions were too small for the extra power of the ph2, not a direct attack on you or your car, i did not name anyone as i felt i would not lower myself for doing so, or lower the tone of a well kept and quite highly regarded forum, lets leave the other forums to all that.
But again, thanks for your comments, they will really help me get the best out of janspeed.

I'm sure that Janspeed value constructive and clear feedback on improvements and perceived problems with products that they produce. If we all kept schtum when dissatisfied or had a view naught would improve over time. However, constructive and clear feedback is what it's all about on v6clio.net, and that might mean holding back on any emotional language sometimes, and keeping comment above the level of the personal!

All about maximizing choice for us Vee owners, which SPIKE has done loads towards :approve:, whilst sharing experiences too.
