Speedo stopped working.

Hi all,
Drove to work this morning an noticed that the speedo was not working - has anyone had this happen before?

Did on my old 172, was the sensor in the box...

Not sure if it's the same pencil sensor as per the above...

Mine does this occasionally. Normally a turn off/ back on fixes it. Had the same problem in my 1.2 Clio as well.

Yes a couple of times in the last 7 years but each time after restarting the engine and moving off it started working again. It apparently is the "sending" sensor unit which has a temporary "blip".

The v6 doesn't have this mentioned "sensor". Each wheel's speed is measured by the ABS system and then routed to a special interface where the vehicle speed is calculated from the 4 wheel speeds. After that it's finally sent to the speedo. So there might be some possibilities of failures but as everybody says: The speedo is the most likely one...

My old 255 did this once I the time I owned it, a stop and restart the engine sorted it lol

The ABS phonic wheel sensor needs to be cleaned on each wheel it this continues

this has just happened to me yesterday, but when i was driving the vee it kept juddering every so often felt like it wanted to cut out.
does anyone have any ideas before i book it in to a renault dealer.
