Solid top mounts and coilovers

Hello, Im looking to install KW coilovers and get the car set up properly. Also Im using spacers for the wheels, was thinking 15mm front and 10mm rear, sounds about right? BTW does anyone know were I can find longer wheel bolts, did a search and found out that Scott @ SG motorsport had them, mailed him but no answer yet.

What do you guys think of K-tec solid top mounts, is this something to go for or are new OEM top mounts better? Going to hopefully do 3 or so trackdays this year, otherwise its inspired road use Im aiming at :)

Do the solid mounts stress the chassie or wheel bearings or something and do you have to service them regulary? How about the standard items, wich part (partnumber?) is the rubber thing to replace or is it a kit you change? Did a search about this to and found a post by James, but not what to change and wich number to order.

Cheers,
Per

Are you using new OEM or is the existing that good and last long?

Anyone ordered longer wheel bolts and not ordered via SG? Were and how much?

/P

I see no benefit to using solid top mounts, had them on my 172 and it was horrible on the road. Fine for track use!...Stick to OEM.

Mine have lasted 43k...So no issues there. Long lasting.

OK, Im going to stick with OEM, spoke to a guy today whos going to install the KW´s and he also told me that solid is not practical on the streets.

Thanks for the pic and prices James, do you know wich of those numbers that actually needs replaceing, or is it just the rubber part thats good to replace?

Any idea on the wheel bolts, surely there must be some more places than SG that has em?

Hi, great link!

The problem is when searching this site, I get 2 different answers. The first, with the partnumber, is saying 25mm but in other threads it says 35mm for MK1. Are they different?

Maybe I have to measure mine :) Whats the worst that could happen if my thread is 25mm and Im running on 15mm spacers with 45mm bolts, can they hit something behind the disc if you know what i mean?

Perner, once you've fitted the spacers and wheel bolts just give it a spin ;)
Anyting catching you'll soon find out ( safely )
Can't help you with the Mk1 bolts but standard Mk2 are 25mm :approve:

I will order those then, it doesnt matter that its not 19MM head? Does the 17MM head cover the "hole" for the bolt OK or is a lot less material in contact?

Got a tip that this company has the spacers and coilovers but mailed them about the bolts but no answer. Any of you know if its a good and reliable company to buy from, if not, other sugestions?

No answers here but I did order from that company, both spacers and coilovers. Hope its going well, you get a little suspicous with no mail answer or nothing, we just have to wait and see.

BTW mk1 bolts are 25mm and I ordered 35mm for rear and 40mm for front.

Did anyone know anything about the top mounts, wich parts to order when chaning these, I dont think that everything on the list above have to be replaced?
