Snell 2015 available from Oct 1 2015

I guess there's two ways of looking at this:
1) the newer tech is available and a motorsport approved helmet will have its maximum shelf life.
2) snell 2010 helmets should be heavily discounted

Time for an early Xmas present methinks!

Quick update on this
I popped into Demon Tweeks today to check out their wares.
Fabulous shop with helpful staff.
Having tried virtually every combination of product - I eventually settled on a Bell GT5 Touring.

I almost plumbed for an open-faced Bell but remembered that Matt has promised me a run in the Atom... ;)
Every other brand of helmet was uncomfortable for my head shape.

Here's the rub:
The Snell 2015 model is due out in Jan and marginally cheaper than the model it is replacing. So I ordered one.

There's no evidence of any discount on the Snell 2010 products - the salesman was quite bullish that the dating process is irrelevant to most.

You would be better advised to spend your money on a plumbed in fire extinguisher for your Phase One  Demon Tweeks have a great choice [smilie=yay.gif]

Lol! That'll be my other Christmas present!

Is there any significant improvement (in testing) in the SA2015 standard over SA2010?

Mine's SA2005 (the helmet is still fairly new though), and there doesn't appear to be much in the way of improvements between that and SA2010.

also need to understand that from 2016. anyone competing in any racing (other than historic) and sprinting in anything other than road going classes will also need a HANS device of some sort the impact of which dictates helmet type and harness and even possibly seat and harness mounting points.

I would hazard a guess that the changes are to ensure newer helmets have been adapted to complement HANS equipment that Mark eluded to.

In terms of safety - probably very little.

My rationale for wanting Snell 2015 was a 'pipe dream' to do some competitive hill-climbing at some stage. Probably 'Pie in the sky' though. I seem to be a full time butler for my kids...

Doubt there's any real improvement in the 2015 helmets. It's really just a way of lifeing helmets and ensuring people aren't competing with 25 year old lids.
Have just bought a snell 2015 stilo (my old one is a 2005) and the only improvement that I can tell over my old one is that new helmet feel. :)

6 months later said helmet arrives!

Who said patience is a virtue...

Here I am modelling it on my Logitech/Playseat combo. I feel less vulnerable on simulation driving games now. Lol!
