small (new) project

Certainly looks like an F7.. But I'm more interested in the one outside the 5. Is that a turbo'ed F7R going into the 5? That'll be completely mental :D

No, i think that's the lump going in Jo's wide body Clio.....i'm dropping engine & gearbox mounts of for him tomorrow as i'm to Brussels for the weekend....

I'll give you guy's a hand...

the white 5 (GTX) is loaded with an F7P (1.8 16VT). If you have a better/closer look you can see the chargecooler ;). Whe this 5 on the dyno and its just mental. 240 ATW, 360 nm at 1 bar on 850 kg. And its for sale btw, 5500 €.

My engine, outside the car, is an F7R (2.0 wiliams lump). Wiseco 8.5:1 compression pistons, wossner conrods, F7P head (smaller combustionchambers), valvesittings redone, GT28RS, GRS ic, 3" downpipe, Tilton clutch and so on. This one goes on dyno for a custom on the 8th oktober.

Jo ,

I need to budget for a new engine in my five. I so badly want a cross between what you have and what the white GTX has got. The sweet spot of power / ?

I am actually in pain looking at that engine. If you need someone to test it in a five. I know a man ...

Always when whe think that whe can do something cheap, wel this is cheap ! The materials used on the gtx are worth over 10k.

sh*t, forgot to explain something.

Top 2 pics are the JC5 014 williams box with reinforced diff rings and gears. The cup spider 5th gear is removed and replaced with one from the JC5 089 (clio sport ph1) and the longest 5th in his kind.

Jo,
What head bolts are you using?,
As I have one down here that keeps popping HG's due to insufficent/constant clamping pressure.

I aint talking 10k cheap thats for sure Jo! Not unless the € crashes on its arse overnight !

what i mean is that 5500 will be a bargain. Patrick (the owner) putted about 12-14k in the car. He's nuts but for him its just another project. Check the link and you now what i mean. Tuning cars and bikes is just for fun (in his opinion).

Hes doing all my heads, hone, bore, balancing a.o

just out off curiousity Rich but why cometic ? Is that for the compression or just the idea that it would be better/stronger ? All my cars drive on std hg's, if the set up is good (map)... you know what i mean.

The first two gaskets were standard and they popped, the third is the comtic and has just started to show signs of blow by when the head was removed for a "flowed" one.
The car is on Omex Ecu and gets tweeked/checked regularly.
Personal I do think it's running to much power than the engine design can cope with (450hp peak, 390 running) without spending serious amount of money.

Blimey, thats a lot ! What about studs instead of bolts ? I now that these engines produce 600-650 hp.

This is why studs haven't been used yet (MR2 running 500hp) previously owned by the Clio owner.
Changed back to bolts and reduced power by 60hp and it was rock solid.

oops, not good !

Wrong place wrong time mate.

Plus it might be fooked. He had lots of issues with it. It needed alsorts of bits as well. I want a buyit , bolt it in package. If that makes sense ?

i know how it goes... scrapping parts togheter from all kind off cars and hope for the best. If you want something decent, start with new parts. If you cant afford it, dont start with it otherwise it ends like an unfinished project or you get it on the road and it breaks in no-time.

That is perfect. I need to start saving.

Getting the body resprayed , then that is next on my hitlist. For sure !

( out of curiosity , can the lump from a 225 , or better still a f1 230 fit ? )
