side pod grills ??

Here we go - now then as you all know I have "cheese graters" for my side pods as mine were nicked [smilie=icon_cry.gif] I have just won on ebay ONE with damaged fixing points ( he says was his old one that was "attempted" to be stolen from his vee ) I asked the question and his reply was ok - so my question too you lovely people's is the "grill " that sits in side it ( matches the back grill each side of the exhaust) is this type of grill fitted to any other r.sport model ? Is it possible to 'cut' from another grill to fit my stand alone side pod ? I still have to find another pod and grills [smilie=icon_cry.gif] but there is a grill front on ebay and thought I may be able to cut this up to suit the vee ?? Any thoughts would be EXTREMELY APPRICIATED as I want to sort before Kimbo so you all don't congratulate me on my "cheese graters " that's if I can sort the other pod by then !!
Oh and does anybody know if I can get the pods fixings moulded back on or an easy repair ? I have got this pod quite cheep but I don't want it to fall off lol !! I am as usual in this clubs hands ! :bow: :help: and I get to use the help banner !! Lol !! Thanks in advance [smilie=thanks.gif]

Just a thought - can anybody supply a couple of photos of a totally original side pod (fixing points) so I know what it is supposed to look like or James may have something in a diagram ish picture showing it ?? [smilie=thanks.gif] I can't take mine off to look as they are c.f. ones so not oem [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Been watching the side pod Craig and not a bad price
Think you'll have a problem getting a RSport grill to fit and match the OEM one but certainly could be made to fit, probably worth doing both sides. As for repairing the fixing lugs just use a little fibreglass at the back to strengthen them up and you'll be fine.
I'll can get a few photos up of my spare set but might be Monday / Tuesday before I get chance.

Sorry Russo - what I mean in ref to the grill is - is the "style" of grill in the phase 2 vee ie the pod grill that matches the back grills side of exhausts - are they fitted to say a 197 clio or other variety of clio ? If so perhaps I could have them cut up to fit inside the pod I have just purchased ? There is a 197 grill on ebay at mo - is that the same style as our vee grills :approve: I no it won't be oem but I can loose my cheese graters ! :rofl: I haven't looked at Sir James's link yet ( :bow: ) - I think Sir James should be adopted in my opinion [cmilie=iconcheers.gif] lol ( no offence at all meant - just think you deserve the title !) I will look in morning I REALLY HAVE TO GO [smilie=thanks.gif]

Hey Craig,

One of my grills also had broken fixing points when I bought the car. I took it out and glued the bits with super hard epoxy resin and it hasn't moved since then. Here are some pictures:

Sorry chaps - I've been running up my own butt ! Thanks for replies - Sir James is still creasing me up !! I have cheese grater smiley !! Lol !! I hope it's not used for anyone else [smilie=yay.gif] I got the pod 2day and it was damaged in transit !! I didn't mind lugs broke but bottom corner of pod was snapped off !! Totally visable and needs A VERY good repair the seller has responded very quick and was as gutted as me - insured delivery so b interesting outcome ? My luck comes 2 mind ! Got 2 go now sooooo tired - sorry 4 ignoring post will b back 2moro - sarria and mark - thank u !!

Hi guys - an update - I managed to purchase Marks pointer :salut: thank u Mark I really appreciate you making me aware of it [cmilie=iconcheers.gif] I suppose it's rude not to say how much they were so the delivered price for both pods, grills and all fixings was £495 he phoned me after removal to say there was signs of repair to the lugs on one but it's ok - I hope the condition externally is ok - he said they were I have to say I felt so guilty when I rang Scott at SGM as I outbid him on the eBay one and I beat him to the salvage one but I have told him ill give him the eBay one so we are both happy bunnies !! Pods should arrive next week so my vee SHOULD be totally oem for Kimbo [smilie=yay.gif] I'm so pleased to get them so again Mark thank you !!

Hi mate. When I get them I'm taking to Scott and he will check them out for me so if there are any issues then Scott will sort :bow: also Im giving him the single pod and he will repair that one too Thank u for offering and asking in the first place - as usual everyone's help is really, really appreciated [smilie=thanks.gif]

Great stuff Craig. I was chatting to the guys breaking the car yesterday and they said that the pods had been sold....i was hoping that you'd got them.
And oncer they are on the car, you can sell your Ph1 pods and get most if not all your money back!!

Ok I have the pods - I think the guy who removed them didn't realise there were TWO SCREWED FIXINGS the back ones are "a very clean break " and only two screws supplied but externally very good I'm off to Scotts tomorrow to drop off and get my rattle looked at ! Just hope he can do before Kimbo! Just sorry I have had to salvage parts from another vee [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

For the money they have asked (and got) for parts you'd think they'd at least take care in removing them. You're not the only person I've heard have damaged goods.
