Servicing a PiperX

Hi Guys,

As I think some of you guys have, I was given a bottle of fluid when I bought my induction kit (PiperX from KTec).

What do you have to do with this and how often?

Cheers,
Phil.

Not sure there is a pre-scribed interval but hopefully this may help on the cleaning side of things ... http://www.pipercross.net/newsletters/website_0904/

In case the above link changes I snipped out the bit which is perhaps most relevant ...

To clean your filter:

1) Remove excess dirt by gently brushing the filter
2) Apply cleaning additive liberally.
Massage in with soft brush, allow to soak in for around 5 minutes
4) Flush the filter out with warm water from the clean side of the foam to the dirty side.
5) Allow the filter to dry naturally (do not apply any heat to the filter!)
Lightly apply dirt retention additive on the dirty (black) side of the foam.
6) Steps 2)-4) may need to be repeated until the filter is clean. Do not over oil the foam as this will impair performance.

Thanks Martin.

I called Pipercross and spoke to one of their technical guys who told me that you only need to do PiperX servicing every year and would need to buy a cleaning kit from them.

They also said that K-Tec should have applied the oil spray when it was fitted. Did you do this to your car when fitting yours?

Cheers,
Phil.

I just binned my piper x cos my car had it on when I bought it and then it had never been cleaned.

Basically the foam fell apart when I tried to clean and repair it, so it defo needs to be cleaned every year!

I had the oil spray with mine but the filter looked quiet clean and was relatively new (as I understood it) so basically I carefully hoovered the filter in the reverse direction of the air flow - which seemed to get rid of the small amount of visible particles. I then re-applied some oil as per the instructions.
