My service light is currently on, i got it serviced by a reputible garage, but when he plugged the laptop in to remove the service light it wouldnt allow access, does anyone know a code to remove the light [smilie=bowdown.gif]
Laptop ? Does that suggest he was using 'non authorised' software to try and clear the light ?
The OBDII system can be hacked you see and resetting things like service lights and mileage are quite well protected from unauthorised changes - for obvious reasons ...
It may be that you need a genuine dealer device to access all the features.
Well, i had booked it in for a service as soon as i got the car, then one morning the service light stayed on from start up so i assumed it was time for a service as it is reaching the recomended milage stated in the handbook? So my mechancic plugged in his laptop (dont know what it actually is he uses) to remove the code as he usually does on cars he services but just couldnt get access.
So do you gus think this could be more than just a service, i have only had the car 3 weeks
check the plugs under the drivers seat and passenger seat,
both my lights came on when i changed the seats, but obviously i never pluged the airbag back in,
there is some info on here about one of the plugs being faulty?
As others have said this is usually an indication of the common problem above. On the Vee the service light is nothing to do with service intervals! It's signalling that there is a problem that needs looking ... most commonly that a coil has gone. Other common 'false' alarm is when it flickers on with the STOP light when cornering owning to slightly low brake fluid levels.
Cheers for the info guys, i will look into this today and have a fiddle, thought i was going to be an un happy vee owner for a second there [smilie=icon_basketball.gif]
Right, which conections do i need to be looking at? I had a look under the passenger seat as suggested, but only found one reasonably small grey connector, is this the one before i start proding and poking?
i would leave the car running when you do it and keep an eye on the service light, if it starts flickering when you move it about then thats your problem :approve:
I tried as suggested but still no joy [smilie=badpc.gif]
I just nipped in to the local renault dealer to see what error code it was and they said i needed a new airbag computer or somehting :s
