Service and Cambelt etc, Kent

Can anyone recommend a garage in the Kent area for a service and cambelt, waterpump etc on my Phase 1, have spoken to the local Renault dealers, one didn't seem to keen on doing the job and the other seemed rather over priced. I know that SG Motorsport are highly recommended but a bit too far away really, struggling to find somewhere at the moment, have spoken to a couple that sound ok but just wondered if anyone on here had a recommendation. Any help would be great.

Hi Luke

I live far west in Wales and have made the mistake of trying a local dealer. Nice folk, but lack expertise on these niche models. One simple ill-fitted component lead to a catalogue of hassles.

There are no such things as short cuts and I would only go to the 'go to' people.

Regards

Stick to people who know what they are doing otherwise you will end up with problems you never knew existed. Main squealers are notorious for wrecking perfectly good cars as they generally don't get enough cars through and most won't have mechanics who are vee specifically trained any more. Last thing you want is an evil handling car that chucks its belt off

What about member on here who is a master tech in renault Cardiff

Al, anyone who expertly knows their way around a Vee (i.e. Owner mechanic) is a bloody good bet. Specialists like SG will have the correct lifting gear and good sources for miscellaneous parts - makes folks like him a win/win.

I went to Scott @ SGM for some work, it was a trek for me too, but the specialist knowledge was worth it.

He's a really nice bloke
He's very knowledgeable especially on the V6 and that is invaluable
He's sympathetic to owners
His prices are fair
The work I had done took longer than expected, significantly, however it was to a high standard and i'd rather have waited and got what I got than take it somewhere else and get shagged over. Also worth noting that SG wasn't responsible for all of the delays either (Bodyshop took ages too).

Would only use Scott now, after the work he's done on the Vee, and basically rebuilding my 993.

Worth a return train ticket to make sure the works done right.

Even if I moved to another country, I would still take a v6 to Scott.

Aside from the odd other customers cars, he almost exclusively works on v6's that sort of experience is invaluable. On top of all of that hes also a top bloke, goes the extra mile for his regular customers and is very reasonably priced.

I need to take mine in too, I have been in contact with Scott and would of liked to of used him but I am going to use Mark Fish as he has worked on mine before, is local and from what I've heard he knows his stuff regarding Vee's too.

Same here Scott has just done the cambelt and water pump on my car , top guy and the only person I would have working on my car

Hi

I would strongly advise ( if you dont go to Scotts ) these 2 specialists
Two Techs in Stone Dartford- Both Ex renault Dartford mechanics they have a great reputation & work on Clio V6 all the time

Mark Fish in Harlow essex - motorsport engineer & ex V6 racer- expensive but again very good reputation
