Scotland 2012

By popular demand.. and quite frankly, long over due.

All ideas and suggestions.. in here! :race:

Please also state if you'd be interested in attending this meet!!

Should be a pretty epic one! Apparently... there's an Illiad Blue v6 up there somewhere, owned by an area rep of some v6 forum!.. But this may well turn out to be little more than a myth, or possibly Scotch mist. ;)

I say april sometime, gives plenty of time to organise everything and then it will be a good 4 months before the lakes meet,

Will we be looking at 3 days kind of thing?

When's the weather least likely to be sh1te?

Also... some people will be traveling a significant distance for this, so perhaps some time in the summer months would be more appealing to those, who may be looking at spending a bit more time up there whilst there, as a mini break.

For the locals, are there any times of the Spring/Summer months to avoid?

The weathers always shite lol! I can do anytime really but work alternate weekends so would need it to fall on a weekend off work, and also away to Florida for 2 weeks from 27th april,

Pity we couldn't get mr nick trott to come to something like this, and bring his evo photographer!

Rule number one about Scotland to avoid dissapointment . . . . . . NEVER expect good weather. You will get it but just don't bet on it.

I did a 2500 mile round trip up there this year and it was epic. It was in a 1.0 Lupo (which I enjoyed massively) but doing it in an angry Vee would be mind blowing. Ive done pretty much every mile of the place over the last 10 years east, west and north. People who haven't drove much further North than fort william or Inverness wouldn't beleive that roads exsist in the British Isles that rival the very best in the world. On a sunny dry day, stunning doesn't come close to describing it. My car will be off the road next year but anyone undertaking this trip next year would not regrett it.

Nice one Shaun mate.

Stick my name on the list.

April is a month too early for me (S.O.R.N) so if possible i would prefer May.

It would be pretty impossible to do a trip around Scotland in 2 Days. The weather can still be harsh in April. July/August always gives the best results unless you have brave pills on prescription and fancy seeing the other end of the spectrum with snow covered mountains inJanuary/Febuary which is as stunning as the summer.

I would be looking at travelling up Friday day and spending the weekend there TBH, possibly coming back Sunday evening/Monday morning.

Thats a shame mate, why no Vee pal?

You could always borrow the Trophy mate :)

Yeah it will need to be a long weekend! Think we will
Need to decide if this is going to be alongside or instead of the lakes meet, as if we are talking summer as well we might end up with 2 small meets as people will go to one or the other etc

Little one on its way and have just bought somewhere out of town that needs a little work so need to save a few shillings. Could be worse so I'm just glad I don't need to sell it.

As Shaun has said, myself and him have been talking about it for ages. I will do it for sure but I'd want to do it over a week personaly. Some of the routes/ roads take around a day to do individually.

I'd take the Trophy Mossy but don't expect it back lol ;)

Oh yes forgot about the little one on its way mate, hope all goes well with the new family :approve:

Yeah unfortunately i would require the Trophy back LOL.

Very true Colin, yeah i think i would only do this meet and not the lakes as this is something i have wanted to do for a long time.

Maybe need to have a chat with Matt also on this one, we could crash his wedding party and then wisk him off to sunny Scotland

keep me posted, I'm well up for this trip. I did a 1500 mile trip round Scotland last May and the weather was stunning, as said previously its a lottery though!

Up the East coast to Montrose, cross country and north to Ullapool, down round Skye then back down to Inverary. Did it in 4 days but wish I'd given it more time.

the roads are simply epic, anything north of Fort William and there's barely any traffic and even fewer federal agents!

This is a realistic figure of a time scale to go east to west and back again. I just can't see it happening over a weekend uless you drive like Jenson Button for 48 hours. As good as the roads are, some of them or the vast majority would want to be spent taking it easy along as your eyes will rarely be on the road.
