Megane RS250 engine into R26 - using mk3 fuel pump

I am swapping the engine in my R26 with a RS250 unit retaining the R26 ECU and loom. Should clarify at this point that 'I' means 'I am paying Rentec in Edinburgh' ;)

Ok, so we are keeping the R26 ECU and loom and swapping in the RS250 engine with turbo and the mk3 inlet manifold, fuel rail and injectors.

I know that we should be able to run the RS250 engine with the existing mk2 fuel pump, although it won't offer the rising rate fuel pressure. The question is can we fit the mk3 fuel pump to my car and take advantage of the rising rate rail with the mk2 ECU and loom without a massive headache?

Do Rentec not know or able to confirm as your paying for the conversion?

I don't know the Meganne wiring layout so expect good starting point would be looking at both and speak to someone regarding the ecu options if this is not rentec

Yes it's possible and i think Paul will know how. Would be surprised if he doesn't!

Just leave the vacuum port on the rising rate fpr unplugged till you get the car mapped, that way it will run a continous 3,5bar

I haven't spoken to Rentec in any great detail about this, although I am sure they could figure out the wiring/plumbing. Was really asking if anyone had any experience with this, before I ask Rentec [emoji846]

Thanks @tutuur!

I will call Paul and pick his brains on Monday. If I get any more info I will post it up here for reference

On the Audi s3 tfsi conversions I did in the vx220's I used an uprated pump that was able to deal with duty cycle (about £100) as the pick up pump and the pressure was 6.6bar as per the vag filter. I ran a lesser 255 style pump but while worked was not happy at 6.6bar and flow rates needed. The HPFP on the head then runs at 100+bar both controlled by oem ecu

I have never looked at the 225/r26/260 setup so cannot comment but the above was quite easy to spec test and works

I modded the pickup fuel housing to accept the pump (prob most challenging bit)

What are the spec of both pumps?

I spoke to Paul this morning and he explained that they had issues fitting the 250 fuel pump into the 225 tank. He thinks that the pump was too deep.
Bollocks! This means no easy way to use the 250 fuel rail and injectors :(
He also mentioned that although you can get the 250 throttle body to work, it was a bit temperamental. Often would stop working and would require the engine to restarted to get it working again.
Double bollocks!
The recommendation is then to use the standard 225 fuel pump, the 225 fuel rail and injectors, and 225 throttle body. Throttle body can be made to fit after some machining/adapter plate but I am not sure the 225 injectors fit in the 250 inlet.
Beginning to regret trying this conversion, would've been easier to pick up a 225 engine.

Tbh i don't understand the problem, sure you could fit the 250pump in the 225 body and swap the pressure regulator over?

Ofcourse the body could be different as it's a completely different car

Hmmm, it might be worth a try. I am asking a guy on rsmegane who is selling a rs250 pump to take a picture and some dimensions to see how big the pump is. If ti could be fitted it would make life a whole lot easier, but I can't find any technical info on size of the pump.
