RS Tuning Group buy III

Yeah it is, well kinda, it's happened to another lads aswell.
Paul has got back to me and trying to help out.
Just a pain cause he's so far from me, not as if I can just nip back for him to fix

That's the only problem when people have to travel so far you want it done right the first time

Absolutely
Wasn't cheap either for the amount of time spent tuning. Actually reminded me of the mobile tuners, plug n play.
I still prefer the good old tuners that do maps from start to finish going right through rev range

Hi I got my 250 mapped on the last group buy at the end of March but because my car is my second car and trackday car I've not really driven it much since the map it's really just been driven home from Leeds and then sat on my drive for a few weeks. My car is the same as Yumyums the cruise control stopped working ever since the map but also post map I can't connect the ecu to diagnostics anymore we've tried Renault Clip on it and we just get 'injection computer not recognised' so now I can't read any engine fault codes which is annoying when you have a check injection fault staring at you on the dash. Pre map it would connect to Renault Clip fine.
I have emailed RS tuning about this but was told they've never seen this before and to buy a RS Tuner device so changes can be applied were needed..
Anyone else had this ecu problem and cruise control problem? Any help with this would be great I can't really afford to go out and buy an RS tuner. Thanks.

Paul has done hundreds of megs , and there is zero point in starting a map again just for your car. There is no sense in re writing a map from scratch every time.

I'd disagree a little but I know what you mean.
Bare in mind all engines are different and can react differently to mods.
Glad you raised this point tbh Andy. If the car isn't spending a lot of time on rollers and it's plug n play, spending maybe 30 mins on rollers, personally I don't think it's worth the money.
Full maps from start to finish are charged at similar costs because it's time consuming.
There is not much difference from what has been done here and what these guys that jump about in they're vans n laptops.

Do you honestly think that the time spent on car warrants the cost, if so then fair enough, each to their own.
All I'm doing is sharing my experience so far and thoughts.

Yum

You forget that there are hundreds of hours of development on the car. That is why it is quick. I appreciate every engine has different power outputs , but it's not going to benefit from every single car being tweaked from scratch.

Flash n pray mappers won't be knowledgeable about the Meg ecu and how it pulls timing after the event ..

Do I think it's worth it ? Hell yeah ! My Meg had 4 or 5 maps at RS tuning !

Few people have said he is quick , you do get faster at your job the more you do it :)

No problems sharing your thoughts at all.

Hundreds of hours, Bit of an exaggeration?
Mapping a car is mapping a car. Parameters still need moved on all, and some cars are different.

Anyways, Ill let yous know how I get on getting cruise control back.
Car will also be going to my local rr that I usually use to have map checked out soon so I'll update you all ☺️

I have to disagree.... I use the same base map on 21 Turbo's and then you can tune to the cars specifics. When the mods are 'mild' and not stuff like cams that make huge differences, it will only need a small tweak here and there. With the consistency of more modern engines theyre very predictable and when you have as many maps as RST does chances are you can pick one thats pretty close to the money. If Paul has any sense he will have a list of base maps stored (I would) like
>Meg 225 F4RT, no mods
>Meg 225 F4RT, Induction kit & exhaust
>Meg 250 F4RT, Catcams 12345... and so on.
I keep a copy of every MAP file I come across (for the Adaptronic ECU's I use) as it helps me going forward.

If it has been on the rollers and tweaked to your car, whether it took 15 minutes or 15 hours, thats an absolute world apart from a preloaded file that has had zero tuning afterwards, and to be fair the less time it spends being nailed on the dyno the better. My first 21 map was 3.5 hours and my butt was starting to twitch. Its a tough time for an engine.

EDIT: I have never been anywhere near RST, i've never spoken to him and have no affiliation whatsoever, this is just personal opinion.

Is this still open?

Daniel Bridgman - 2009 Clio 200 with Ktec Induction Kit and Ktec Pro-Performance Cat-Back Exhaust (NO CAMS)

Can ring up and pay deposit whenever.

Ah that sucks. Can pay full today and work done early June if I can squeeze on. Any chances?

If not, is there likely to be one soon. Off to the ring in August so was hoping to get it done before then.
