Revolution Detailing

So I've taken my Clio to Adam from Revolution Detailing in Bristol to get it ready for Origin RS. He details high spec cars and did this liquid yellow recently:

He's taking the wheels off to send them to Platinum in Swindon for refurbishment as they have one scuff and corrosion under the paint. This is the first time I see the wheels taken off my car and some surprises came up.

Most of the centre caps were broken:

The rims have lots of stick weights, that is a bit concerning, Platinum will check them for buckles:

Most of the springs of the KW3s are corroded. I suppose this is normal when the last owners used it as an everyday car? I'll have to replace them soon:

He is cleaning it thoroughly and also polish the headlights and fit Venture shields on them (someone scratched them badly trying to remove mosquitoes apparently).

Any thoughts on any of this?

Centre caps are known for being brittle. Buy some from any favourite parts dealer which comes to mind ;)

Great idea with the headlights

Have springs stripped and re-powder coated/plastic coated.
Headlights should clean up well with plastic polish.

wow, those KW's are in terrible nick! - You can send them back to KW and get them refurbed btw.

You couldn't resist that one, hey James? hehe.

Yes they look clean because Adam washed them before taking the pictures. I think I'll replace them and refurbish the damage ones as you guys said. To be honest they didn't look that bad when they were dirty!

Really? when I had KW's on my wee clio the thread was corroded meaing they couldnt be put up and down. Everything looks good apart from the springs which can surely be cleaned up/painted.

The thread shouldn't rust at all Ben...Perhaps the V3's are made of a different material. I got mine in 08 too; still look surprisingly good!

So 2 out of the 4 wheels were slightly buckled, that's why they had that many weights. I wonder if this had something to do with the strength of the KWs cos when I bought the car they were mega hard and Scott (he also felt them too hard) softened them for me. Platinum have got them straight now.

The headlights needed some serious polishing to remove the deep scratches and Venture Shields have been fitted on them now.

Will post pictures when I pick it up tomorrow.

I can't recommend Adam too much as he was brilliant with my car which was in the link on the first post. that was done just before I bought the car and it was put in storage so when it came out of storage I sent it back to him to have two jobs done.
he covered it in two Gtecniq products. a coating of C1 and then Exo V2 which is a new hybrid ultra UV protective and water and dirt repellent sealant which is amazing.
it really brings out the metallic depth of the paint and is amazing when the car is washed or gets rained on as the water beads and just rolls off . I got caught out in a rain storm and the next day expected the roof etc to have lots of dried water marks on it yet it looked like someone had been buffing it for an hour .not a mark on the car. all the dirty rain had simply rolled off the car.
lasts about 2 years or so.
but first Adam fitted ventureshield to the front and headlamps and door mirrors as luckily there are only a couple of stone chips on the front so don't want to have to get into respraying liquid yellow. I remember with the Press cars we were having to respray the front every month due to the high speed tracking work the photographers would do etc. yet when the plastic went on it literally stopped the chipping overnight so it does work. cost £500 which if it saves just two resprays in the next few years ( and the problems of colour matching!) then it will be well worth it.
