K & N upgrade p.filter - the company suggests that it wont affect warranty - is this true? Also, as long as genuine renault parts are used, can i have a 24k service somewhere other than the v.expensive renault dealers? thanks

Our Ref: 1-99744704 Dear Sir Thank you for your recent e-mail. You can have a part fitted to your car but this will not be covered under the Renault warranty. The company will porvide you with their own warranty. You can also have your Renault serviced by your local garage as long as genuine Renault parts are used. It is important to remember that if your car is not serviced according to our standards, it may affect your warranty. If a fault occurs which can be attributed to lack of servicing, the repair will not be covered under the terms of the warranty. The same is true if we believe a fault to have escalated because a service was not carried out to Renault standards. I hope that I have answered your question. If you have any other enquiries please feel free to contact us at Renault Customer Services. So basically as some have found, there is a bit of latitude around warranties and servicing - which is good to see from a major manufacturer and is borne out by some recent posts I have read on here ;-)

Hopefully this is useful for future reference ...

Just remember that if the an after market filter be it air or oil collapses and gets into the engine you have to claim from that manufacturer.

I had this twice and got nought.

Cost me a re-build of the engine each time.
