Wanted Renault R5 Turbo 1 or 2

Fugu

New Member
Hi Everyone,
I am looking for an R5 Turbo 1 or 2 in really good condition. If anyone is thinking of selling or knows of one for sale please let me know. I am located in the States and I have seen them come up for sale from time to time, but they're still definitely few and far between. I found a red Turbo1 going up for auction, but unfortunately this one is not the one I am looking for. I am fairly new to this forum and have been spending the last couple of weeks wandering around the forum and reading up on all the great information.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Read6737, Thanks for the tip! Im used to traveling all around the US for a car, but now having to go to Europe would be a new frontier, but I guess whatever it takes to find the right example. :i-m_so_happy.gif:
Use FRENCH google google.fr in French
using
Renault 5 Turbo occasion or a vendre
plenty on there,

Yes, prices for these cars have gone up quickly and in general the classic car market is red hot. I am prepared with a competitive budget for the right example. Im really looking for one in very good condition and I'm willing to pay the premium for such an example. Im not a collector that will store this away. In fact, I wouldnt call myself a collector. I just love this car and it's time to finally try to make this happen. I will definitely take good car of this car, but I will be driving it for sure.

Try dropping Steve Dell at the RAOC site a line. He's head of the club and buys and sells many classic Renaults . I don't think he has one at the moment but he may well know of one for sale, or be useful in tracking one down.

Very friendly and knowledgeable and very trustworthy, 3 of my current fleet came from him :0)

Thanks Tony! I will certainly reach out to Steve. What did you add to your stable if you don't mind my asking? :)

Prices for classics has gone mad in the last 6 months, you've seen the dini' double in a year in price, GTA's that were 4K a year ago are 7-8K now. Apparently hitting 25 years old makes all the difference

And yet my 9 and 21 are worth....feck all. And the Fuego sold for.....feck all.

So thats that theory shagged :D

21 Turbos make good money in France but unloved in Blighty for some reason. GTAs have been worth money for years in France, still 50% more than in the UK easy. Think saloon cars struggle to be as desirable as a toy ( which lets face it 99% of 25 year old purchases are going to be) obviously there are exceptions but convertibles are coupes are almost always the ones to keep. And now it would seem hot hatches. E36 M3 is a good example of this - coupes now starting to appreciate especially the later cars - rarer saloon worth feck all.

I'm in Ohio, recently bought my 3rd T2 from a guy in NJ who was the original owner. Just after that, the guy who bought my second one years ago put it up for sale. It's red and low miles. I've passed this message on to the owner, not sure if the car has been sold already or not.

Very low mile T2 sold recently in Paris auction for $87K.
