just phoning around to check the prices of the cambelt/waterpump/aux belt service not due until the end of the year. I have a contact at my local renault dealer but i tried edinburgh to see if they were any better.

Apparently it a 'nightmare of a job' to do and 'we had one in recently and it took ages' , these kind of quotes dont really fill me with confidence but i left my mobile number and waited for a call back.

He left an answerphone message and to be honest i had to phone him back to see if he was a trainee comedian!

TOTAL COST SIR IS £2215!! (£1589 to fit the water pump and £626 for the rest!!) the price without the water pump seems quite good cos it includes the 72k service, plugs etc.

He said the cambelt is done without the engine out but cmon, £1589 for a supply and fit a circa £100 part!!!??? [smilie=icon_clown.gif]

I heard that all Renault dealerships have a quick link from the browser to here.

Whenever the customer mentions V6, they are instructed to go here right away :wink:

That quote really takes the p*ss!
Mine is fast looming and its really bugging me that theres nowhere up here that I trust, its not so much the cost that bothers me its the thought of the mechanics standing there scratching there heads and figuring out what to do as they go along. :s

i got a quote of £885 for cambelt at renault dealers in stirling if thats a help.

just had another quote in today

Cambelt job inc aux belt - £966
Water pump - Additional £247
Big service (plugs etc) £300

still far off what others have paid so far, the search continues!...........

Had mine done in Motherwell last year guys for a decent price, had a little issue with and engine mount bolt but apart from that it was ok. Afterwards I would have felt more comfortable with Pollockshaws Reno as I heard they have done more of them. Everything except the plugs was 900 odds im sure

I had mine done at Pollockshaws Road. Might be a bit of a trek for you though.

It cost me £1083 inc vat but there was no service done. I thought that was pretty good as i had previously called Renault in Edinburgh and nearly collapsed when they priced it!! Think it was around the 2k mark as well.

Pollockshaws Road was pretty good. Decent job of it apart from splitting my front bumper then denying it!!!!! :evil:

I'd steer well clear of Renault Edinburgh - I'm still waiting for them to return my call from April re investingating an oil leak! Full thread here....

just had another quote from ezra sugden (who i would be happy to deal with as they are switched on when it comes to vees) and it was £995 all in, (cambelt, aux belt and water pump) might even be able to haggle pick up on a flat bed trailer as they are 2 hrs away.

will report back, im going to try for an oil and filter in that price aswell.
