Renault Clio 172 Cup Renaultsport
- Standard lighten glass;
- No TCS;
- No ABS;
- No Aircon;
- No Airbags (been removed by previous owner, light blanked off)
- Elec windows and mirrors
Background;
I bought this car last year in October off someone local I knew from past car events and a friend of a friend (Quade).
172 CUP: Cleaned, Mapped and Dyno'd
The car had been sat in his parents garage for a few years as his clutch release bearing had failed. I already owned a 172 sport in silver and really wanted a 172 cup and as the cars bodywork was mint when I bought it. Howeber the interior had been completed stripped (including tar sound deadening and heaters!).
I decided to break my sport and fit all the good parts (manifold, exhaust, shocks, eibach springs) and sport interior, carpets, aerial, rear washer, cup spolier, and heaters onto the cup.
I replaced the cambelt using geniue tools and ensured it was timed up correctly, and again after 3k miles! I also replaced the clutch with a Valveo item and new release bearing.
The good;
12 months mot;
130.5k miles (i've done 12k since owning it commuting to work)
Valveo Clutch - Nov 2016 (with Receipt);
Renault Cambelt kit - 2016 (with Receipt, using Renault tools!);
- Recent oil change
- 428 Catcams
- Remapped (with Receipt) ;
- 190+ bhp on two different rollers (Printouts for proof);
- 182 manifold;
- 182 Cat (decat pipe included);
- Recent NGK Lambda sensor;
- New Lucas TDC sensor and wiring;
- 2 x Recent injectors (i snapped one, and the other failed after being cleaned);
- 2 x ultrasonically cleaned injectors;
- Ktec recessed ss exhaust with resonator;
- Momo steering wheel (well worn);
- Omp Boss;
- Eibach proline springs;
- Renault OEM Cup front shocks;
- Non -Oem Rear shocks;
- Ds2500 front pads;
- Mintex rear pads and discs;
- Rear Goodridge braided lines;
- Oz F1 15 Renault wheels (need refurbing);
- Toyo Tyres - all with good tread;
- Polo Raditor (ideal for ITBs, not the best installation);
- Ph1 indicator stalk;
- Recent front OEM Renault lights;
- Recent rear spolier brake light;
- Heko wind deflectors;
No nasty dents, scratches (excluding front bumper) or bubbling paint, only minor trolley dents.
The car is still insured and tax and being used daily so the mileage will increase slightly.
The bad;
- Cat C (Dec 2016) read below;
- Scuffed front bumper;
- Quick job on Rear drivers side arch lip after some flaking pain (see picture);
- Random 5th gear crunch, really annoying as i replaced the previous gearbox as it had a noisy diff then once fitted I discovered this. I've done nearly 10k on it like this, it has not got any worse, and it is really random. Sometimes it only does it when cold, others hot, and sometimes not at all. I havs not tried changing the oil again after reffitting it.
- I had to fit my Sport PAS pump as my cup pump ended up getting run dry due to a rusty PAS pipe that split. I fitted my slight wine Sport pump which i've done 20k+ on with no issues.
- 1x Upper Engine mount bolt snapped (only 3 of 4)
The car was unfortunately was made a category C last year (December 2016) as someone pulled out in front of me on a roundabout. All that was damaged was slightly under the wing, the passenger side front wing, headlight, and a scuffed bumper. After the crash happened I needed to move the car out of the way the bumper was fine, but as soon as i moved it, it came off and went underneath the car.
After the crashed i replaced the passenger side wing and headlight. The bumper was scuffed in multiple places but not cracked.
I don't really want to sell, as I've spent so much time on this car. I would keep it ideally and use it a track car now it's a cat C, but I just bought another car and don't have the room.
