Could do with a little advice

I have a Renault 5 gtturbo with a 1.7 Renault/Volvo engine and the starter motor has burnt out

Will a 1.4 starter fit the 1.7 engine?

Yes it will fit. But Just put a clio 1.8 16v starter back. They are Quick starters compared to the original C1j starters.
