Rehanging door help!

Nope, it's a bit of a tit, as usual. You need some special tools to get the pins out properly (most of the time). Otherwise you end up hitting them at an angle and bending the tops over.

You need (per door), 2 x Pins and 4 x Brass bushes. The bushes sit in the hinge holders on the car, one in the top, one in the bottom of each bracket. the door fitting goes over them, then the pins drive through the whole lot.
The pins come OUT toward each other- the top one down, the bottom one up. They go back in the other way, obviously, from the inside outwards.

I made my tools from an old steering rack, and an old chisel. Bit hard to describe, but the rack is an offset punch with a divot to locate the top of the pin, and the chisel has a slot in it to locate on the pin collar at the bottom and then I can knock it downward when the punch cant drive it any further.

It's a two person job. Or one with support for the door.

First check which type of door pin, then order the correct one's from Renault. Also order the copper bushes, you need 4 per door.

Open the door, undo the check strap, two 13mm(?) bolts.

Then drive the door pins out using a suitable drift, screwdriver - bar with a dimple in the middle.

Support the door and remove the pins. Remove the door from the hinge.

Drive out the copper bushes, don't worry about them you have new ones.

Grease the hinge, and fit the new bushes.

Re grease, and ease the door back on the hinge.

Best bet is to line up both hinges and give it a good shove.

Once its lined up, that can take s few goes, drive the new pins in.

Re attach the check strap.

Job done.:applouse:
