REAR DRIVESHAFT INNER BOOT LHS

Spike

New Member
Has anyone had to buy a driveshaft boot for the inner joint on the left ( kerb) side.
have been told by reno that it comes with the shaft at an amazing £360!!!
somehow this must be wrong and there WILL be a way round it, james, any ideas?
mine now leaks like a sieve and has coated all of the car in gearbox oil, great fun! and smelly.

I think its a standart renault part laguna etc but how you get on to the shaft, I think you need to press off the the inner CV joint, someone must do it as a aftermarket part. Unless the Clio driveshaft is thicker/ bigger than the Luguna one, then you are stuffed, again

Steve, got a laguna shaft from the boneyard and pressed the end off, the boot is slightly different but may do. however.........got a shaft and boot from a volvo box in the same boneyard, volvo 360, boot seems to be the same, even has reno logo on it!
do i need to write to an agony aunt to see if its ok to fit a volvo part to my reno???
part not listed as genuine or bongo.
will let you know in next weeks thrilling installment.............

Spike please confirm the Volvo part fits and the year of the 360 so we can see if we can source the boot from volvo, is the a bearing and seal in the boot.

I have a renault parts on my car so anything else will be better !!!! and cheaper

good luck.

The latest in this saga:
finally got the car up on the ramps and the driveshaft off, disaster!!! the laguna boot looks the same but don't fit, the volvo one is closer but not right, so a scurry round the scrappy found an old volvo one that has a split but repairable that went in, so a bodge at the end of the day. i have been through all the parts books and cannot find anything to fit. the problem, and this includes any that ats can supply is: the boot goes on, and looks the same but, the inner shaft as steve has already said WAS bigger and rubs on the gaiter under extreme suspension movement so not ideal.
i have one from reno that i am going to try and modify so again, watch this space.
oh, and i have no idea what volvo the boot came from as it was just on a pile of old gearboxes...........ha....old renos!
