Rear caliper info.

I have recently looked into ordering refurbed rear calipers.

From information I've found on the forum here I know the following:
  • The rear calipers fitted to the Clio are the same ones that were fitted to the front of the Citroen XM at some point.
Apparently there were three different versions of the calipers fitted over the years.
The version I am looking for are Bendix and have 348896 embossed on the casting.

---------------------------------------------

Before I went ahead and got replacements I went to have a look at my current calipers.
These have Bendix stamped on them but the embossed number is 2035. There is also a larger number '4' stamped beside this number on the offside caliper and number '5' stamped on the nearside.

Anyone got any clues? At this rate I'd be quicker sending mine away to get re-furbed :ihatpcs:

I can give you the Renault numbers if that helps any cross reference?

CALLIPER LHR ALPINE

CALLIPER RHR GTA

£ 595.57 GBP

Thanks guys.

That was the company I'd been emailing James. They were the ones who replied saying about the LHM brake fluid (which threw another spanner in the works).

Think your right Ali, time to crack out the spanners. Will get them sent off to BigRed or the like

I used Brake Caliper Refurbs who were a shower a plonkers! (Note to all to avoid!) We ended up re-stripping them and re-assembling!

I have managed to fit Citroen xantia calipers to the rear of my phase 2,
There is a small difference between the xantia caliper and the original, but at £100 each new of ebay it was a no brainier !

Very interesting Mike.

Have you got pictures of the original vs the Xantia to show the differences?

I'm having my wheels reconditioned in the next few weeks so I'll post some pictures of the calipers and a brief note on what I had to do to make them fit.
