Rear brakes are late Citreon XM

Lastest update on the rear brakes, after buying a set of 93 citreon XM front brakes, they are the same aprt from a bit of machining on the caliper mount, why its there who knows it's not a clearance problem.

Maybe its so Renault can charge 20 times as much for them.

So seal kits and spares are available on the web for these under the XM lists, I am almost sure the Citreon Xsara calipers are the same too but the caliper mount and pad holder are different as they take a smaller pad.

Pictures of said brakes one showing an angle grinder mod in the caliper holder. Red caliper is original clio V6

Big Red do seal kits and BRakeparts on-line do calipers and all the spare parts. brakeparts on line go for vin 5229 on

Excellent info Steve :approve:

Where exactly have you had to grind the citroen caliper to get it to fit?

Looks like the bit on the right needs to match the red one.

I got the Calipers off ebay for £1.98 the pair, felt sorry for the guy and gave him £10 for them

If any body need one I have a complete new rear caliper rebuild kit including a new piston £50 all taken off a new Xanita caliper.

I dont think you do need to grind the caliper mount to get it to fit as there is no clearance problem I did it so the mount matched the other side, anyway just leave your old caliper mount on the car and swap just the caliper by undoing the pivot mounting bolt much easier anyway.

Hi Ronan

Most of the information you need is archived on here. The path of least resistance is to look things up, rather than wait for a reply.

You’ll find about a similar audacious project to yours. (Albeit a Ph2)

The results were remarkable and that car is revered in the V6 community.

He has topics on brakes…

; )
