Re-trimming MK1 steering wheel

JimA

New Member
Hi,

I'm in contact with 'snappy' over on ClioSport.net to get my MK1 Vee wheel re trimmed as original, however I need to source the material, so can anyone tell me where I might be able to get this?....& is it the same material as the door panels/original seats?

Cheers,

Jim

Thought i'd give some feedback on Snappy's work after he refurbished my steering wheel. Can't say how happy i was at how it turned out, Snappy's work is indeed excellent & I would highly recommend him to anyone who is thinking of having theirs refurbed.

For my wheel i wanted it similar to OEM, so i sourced a set of old Clio Trophy seats ( same as in the Vee ) off of fleabay, i stripped the covers down, sent off the requisite material to Snappy & he worked his magic. I've enclosed the before & after pics for anyone who's interested.

Another Snappy happy customer :approve:
Seen plenty of photos of his work and it all looks outstanding
Love the wheel jima now you have to keep it that mint.

Very nice, I'm tempted for the trophy. But you wrecked a set of trophy seats just for the material for these???

Hi Matt,

Just rechecked my fleabay history & the seats were listed as Clio Sport seats, so just a bog standard Clio 182 but it's the exact same OEM front seats as came in the MK1 Vee. I used the rear seat material as it was virtually like new & only the rear pocket from front seats for the lower T on the steering.

Whole interior seating only cost £80 & I'm hoping the material should wear quite well if you consider that it's originally made for many years worth of bums scraping & sliding around on it.

Refitted my Snappy re trimmed wheel, I like it & think it looks quite close to OEM

I sent it all to Snappy. There seemed to be enough to do a couple of steering wheels but you best ask him as I'm no expert, maybe he had some left over. Failing that there's always seats up on fleabay that you can get more from.
