Had my car back last week and just wanted to put a post up with reference to the quality of the work done by Scott at SGM. The photos etc are on the way and should be posted shortly ( thanks Tim ) i dont have them yet as Scottie has em! anyway back to the car - MINDBLOWING!!!!
Everthing from the interior through to the engine is cock on. The bulk head ( Ray many thanks again, when are we meeting for beers?) is spanking, fits like a glove and makes the M6 drive up north and back pleasurable to do, also adding a look of class to the standard interior. The flocking on the engine covers and dash really creates a better feel of quality inside the cabin. The seats? The seats are fantastic, both supportive, quality and comfortable on long journeys. Have harnesses in there but also run the pre tensioners for road use.
Uprated AP brakes give you the confidence to push with the car more and actually stop the car properly ( i know the standard brakes are done by ap but they are no where near as good) fully braided hoses and uprated pads also help with a better feel.
Rear end is more planted with the ph2 rear end and the anti roll bar/ custom drop links set up.
KW suspension is expensive to buy, but ive run it on my last three cars and i wouldnt fit anything else.
Custom exhaust system is quiet compared to janspeed, but is just right for my requirements. It makes the required noise when you put youre foot to the boards and doesnt sound like kevs corsa at low speeds!!!!
If you see the manifolds they are a work of art!!!
Refering to noise the v has a all together different tone and engine note. So much so you cant even here the exhaust!!! To cut a long story short it sounds fing sick! Its like having an all together different car.
Driving at low speeds the car is smooth and very tractable( almost normal!) i sat at 75/80 on the m6 no cabin interference and droning. If you put youre foot down it barks very loudly and has a very unique tone - i havent heard another v sound like it. The induction noise at all revs from 2k is mental, it sounds every bit like i would have hoped. The motec map is gradual all through the rev range and even with the cams is mapped not to be " on or off" good delivery of the power all round.( thanks Mark @ Owen developments )
Torque in every gear is far more noticable - saves changing gear as many times [smilie=icon_chef.gif]
A few more bits and bats to finish in January and then will be at the most optimum.
So all in all a unique car built by a unique bloke - cheers Scott ( and of course Rupert ) looking forward to the warmer months with eagerness.
Will post again when the photos are up.
Later on Tim
???? Where did it all go wrong then????
