Pushing Hard on 3 Wheels

GlowRed

New Member
Been on my first track day in my Phase II Vee. Was told that it was on 3 wheels going round some corners. Purchased a DVD of my car on track, and there it is with a front wheel off the ground :race: .

I can post some more pictures if anyone interested.

Yes yes yes, see my post in your other thread.....

please tell us how it was

where it was?
how the car behaved?
did it keep up with certain other cars?
was there any basic flaws?
on the limit handling?
fun factor as a car on track?
any obvious improvements or aspects of the car that let it down?
etc, etc, etc

Thanks

Hi Carl

Glad you're enjoying it. Can you put up any footage from the DVD?

I had a GoPro attached to my helmet. Unfortunately, the camera was a little high and the wing mirror was in the way but I still captured some interesting footage. I'm hoping to get some video online soon.

Think Evo has a write-up/video of Nick Trott's old LY being compared with a Meg 250 on track (Bedford?). Feedback was:
- Times were much closer than expected
- Vee was a pig to drive quickly compared with the Meg
- Vee was a lot more involving/satisfying
- Vee was spun at least once

My main gripe with taking the vee on track has nothing to do with the car itself but more a "track day god" in their £400 Beemer E30 estate punting into me and writing the car off. Just not worth the risk imo. Fast road for me :)

Wow......^^^^^ Jon what happened?

Just when I was getting more comfortable with the idea?

I have heard to avoid trackdays with these stripped out sh*tboxes as they run no risks to themselves.

I bet Gt3's and lambos etc have more of an incentive not to crash into other people.

I take it all you got from your beemer friend was a "sorry bout that mate".......

All I can say is that everyone at Bedford followed the rules and were very sensible. The basic ruler were overtaking on the left and no overtaking on the corners.

I kept my eye of the rear view mirrors and just let the faster cars through, sometimes indicating to the right to show I was aware they were there and that they could pass me.

Don't forget, there are idiots on the roads too.

Yup agree. Probably more idiots on the road to be honest. If YouTube is to be believed though, quite a few track days end in tears and it's just not worth the risk for me. Only my personal opinion though, would never want to put anyone else off. Just chose a safe track (like Bedford) and a reputable operator (like MSV).

I believe the key is to sign up to an event organised by a car club or a reputable company, where rules are strictly enforced, and those breaking them are black flagged and not allowed to continue.
