Headed over to pick the Chammy up yesterday evening, about 100 miles, with a mate. From the moment I saw it I knew I just had to have it.

The bodywork is exceptional for a car of it's age. It does have rust, but a tiny bit on the arch/doorshut of the O/S rear.

There are a few problems which the seller pointed out:

Leaky Sunroof (leccy but doesn't work)
Leaky boot seal
Steering rack noisy when parking, but it's just the power steering
Needs new tyres
ABS light is on (Brakes work perfectly and pedal is firm)

I handed over the money and drove the car away.

I've owned and driven quite a few cars, but this is by far the nicest to sit on the motorway. It was smooth quiet and comfortable. (and doing 45mpg!)

Because it was dark when I bought it, even with a floodlight looking around it, still missed bits. Came out this morning and noticed a huge crack in drivers mirror, so will need a new one of them.

When I first drove it, it felt sluggish and under powered. Got on the motorway sitting at 70, gave it a few blips to blow the cobwebs out and what a difference. The chap I bought it from has owned it since 2000, and I think he used it for town driving. So a good run did it good.

Going to have a good look around it at the weekend and take some more photos.

[BREAK=Various parts bought]

Another member had a brand new middle section kicking about, so I got that, £20

Just ordered 2 front wheel bearing off eBay, £10 each + postage, £19

New original rear silencer £55

Spent on parts so far: £94

Next priority is the rust. Want to get it done before FCS, and possibly get the wheels refurbed before FCS too!
