So, A few weeks ago I picked up a Megane 225, Zero history (was claimed the bets were done at 95k (The cars on 97K) Rear brakes and disks all look pretty new.) but for the price it owes me I couldn't turn it down, Shes a bit rough around the edges, I am the 12th Owner I think (Still waiting on logbook) At the moment, she's pretty much standard apart from a Scorpion Exhaust (Which was wonkey, I've replaced all the mounts), and a Baileys BOV - Enging wiring is a mess, lots of extra earths been added over the years that all needs tidying up and tracing back and all that fun stuff, It was a 4 hour drive each way to get her, drive back was flawless, no problems at all, Oh, has R26 Alloys that badly need a refurb.
Fast forward a few days and issues starting appearing...
Front drivers side spring has been replaced at some point with the wrong spring and its sitting far too high. (Granted I probably should have spotted this)
I've managed to break the handbrake, button has got stuck in so having to leave in gear.
On full lock bit of a grind, probably top mounts
Steering rack is sometimes noisey, need to loosen off the mounts and adjust them I think, doesn't do it much.
Otherwise all was fine til a few days ago and I kept getting a massive clunk when coming off the fast pedal, couldn't work out what was causing it, so today I went hunting and (To my dismay) found this:
Turns out I'm also missing the little flat Z shaped mount that goes from the cam cover to the head?
Ordered a new Dogbone mount as that fell appart when I removed it, the main engine mount looks brand new, no slack or play in it, so I'm guessing this damage is recent and was one of the reasons for getting rid, as the belt does look brand new, so appears to have been bodged back together, it only had one proper bolt holding the engine in on that side, rest were either wrong bolts that were too small doing nothing, or had snapped in half (And are still stuck in the cast til I work out a way of getting them out) Least it explains the knocking noise? :bl:
I've started removing the (Tacky?) F1 Stickers, but here she is when I got her:
But yes, thats my little Megane Project that I hope to tidy up, paint is a mess so needs a good detail, and the bumper has dropped at the front... she'll get there.... one day.
