PreCat

Hi all,

Firstly just a note to say hello to all, I have had my ph2 vee for just under 3 months and am really enjoying it. I'll update my profile as soon as I get a chance.

I have just bought a K-Tech box and hopefully it will be a good investment.

I was just wondering if many of you have had issues with the pre-cat pipe joined to the cat. I have had the pre-cat welded back together but last weekend discovered what I would describe as a metal flapping noise coming from the same area. I think the crack might have re-opened, any thoughts?

i do have some spare exhaust parts for sale, exactly which part are we talking about? it sounds like you are confusing the pre and post cats, if you aren't i am confused. are you talking about the cats above the exhaust silencer?

Hi Spike,

Yep the cat above the silencer that has the heat shield covering it attached with 3 bolts.
that is the secondary cat, the primaries are right up on the engine.
there is a choice, i am having some janspeed pipes made that eliminate these, or i do have these spare, your desicion on what you want, see my post on janspeed de cat, these are due in two weeks time all being well.

Spike, correct me if I'm wrong but on the photos of your Janspeed Prototype it looks like the connectors between the secondary cat to the link pipes are different to the standard Renault items which use a clamp. Dont they bolt together on the Janspeed?

yes, we decided to do it that way to ease fitting, the ph1 was a pig to fit, not hard just a pig, so got rid of the stupid clamps. this means you cannot interchange the silencer, but why would you want to?
my interpretation of the link pipes is the connection to the manifolds, so thats why its confusing.

forgot to mention, i have dug out a secondary cat thats in great shape, price is £250 posted if thats any help.
these parts will be getting hard to find and these are near £700 from reno.
