Mark 2; has anyone experienced the engine pinking when under initial load, clears itself as the revs rise, however concerned damaged may be occuring due to too weak a mixture/timing etc.
Always run on Shell V max.
 
My Mk2 Vee pinks a little under light load sometimes as you throttle, many cars do is my experience.

I don't use high-octane fuel.

Mine did this all the time - until I had a performance remap.

My car has had a remap and it never pinks at all [smilie=bunny_4.gif] [smilie=bunny_4.gif]
