looking into some new front boots, can someone with standard 245/45 rears and who has fitted 225/40 fronts post a pic of their car side on, i want to see how the profiles look against each other :approve:

thanks in advance

Hi
I had a problem with this as i wanted to keep the mitchelins ps2 on, I was going to put the 225/40s on but im sure they are about 8mm thicker than the 205/40s, so didnt think it was gonna look right with the rears, so i went for 225/35, which i think is about 3mm thinner than the 205/40s but they still look the same.
so ive got,
front 225/35/18 mich ps2
rear 245/40/18 mich ps2
i will try and get pic soon.
hope this helps.

Thanks Wayne that's very helpful! 225/35 sounds cool
I want to stay Michelin as well,

If you could get a pic that would be great, do they look wider on the front wheels also? As in do the sidewalls bulge out from the rim whereas the 205's look perfect

no i thought they were going to but they didnt, i just changed one tyre to start with to compare the two. when you put the two together the 225 does look wider when looking down on them, but no bulging. when looking at the side walls they both look exactly the same "perfect" [smilie=yay.gif]

Thanks wayne your a star mate! Car looks top too! Very clean,

I think you can tell they are slightly wider looking but they look the right profile against the rears which is the main thing, do you still use the 29 psi pressure?

A tad off topic but I think this is worth a small plug.

i have 225/40 on mine some PS3's, they fit but do rub a little on full lock. Major difference in price between the two £155 per tyre for 225/40 PS3's and £218 for 225/35 PS2's. Thats from black circles, I found they where the cheapest when i bought mine.

They dont rub anymore however, just thought i'd point that out

Just got a pair of michelin pilot super sports for the rear to see how they go, anybody else used them? But unfortunately cant get them in a suitable size for the front. So going for the ps2's in the 223/35 fitment. Been ringing local tyre suppliers and have got prices ranging from £410 - £500 for a pair [smilie=icon_eek.gif] Which I thought was really expensive considering I got the supersports for £380ish iirc. But a quick check on camskill tells me the ps2's can be had for £179.20 each for those who are interested!!

It's because certain tyres are more "standard size" and others are specialist. For instance most cars with 18" wheels either use 225/40/18 or 245/40/18 therefore the tyres are cheaper as there is a lot more competition.
