Just got notified, that a german phase2 driver totally lost control over her car, at 100mph+ where the car just snapped on her with no warning.
After examining turned out on of the shocks broke, and lost all oil. The other side was getting wet.
So whenever you get your Vee in for maintenance, go check it out. As I understood, it was quite nasty,

I expect see had more than clipped a kurb a few times.

In all my years never had a shock brake and that includes an awfull lot of racing and rallying miles.

Wrote off two cars though.

And I think we can thank the inventor of speedbumps for that.
Who ever did that should have a spring shoved up his .........

I have had all 4 shocks replaced on my mk 2 due to failure when the car has only done 10,000 miles. I have never owned a car that had to have shocks replaced despite doing 5 times that mileage. Also the previous 182 had the 2 rear shocks replaced due to leak and failure inside 20,000 miles. I would suggest it is a quality control issue at the manufacturer.
