Phase one to phase 2 fuel tank conversion

G

Guest

Hi all, I'm looking at swapping the phase 1 twin tank nonsense for the later single tank version but i would like to know what i'd need.

As far as I can work out i'll need:

Tank with fuel pump
Interior loom
Filler neck

If there's anything else i'll need then please let me know, alternatively if you have the bits i need i'd like to hear from you please.

Cheers. Chris

lol i didnt even know that the phase 1 and phase 2 had different fuel tanks!!

i have a phase 2 tank with some fuel, the pump and neck etc and even the ph2 fuel cap yours for 35 quids collected :P or im open to offers ;)

Thats extremely extremely temping but i'm a little unsure whether the Nisvan would make it to Wales to collect it. Do you have the interior loom for the car too, if one doesn't come up closer to home i may plan a little road trip

might be abe to shorten your journey slightly to gloucester. if you wanted it i can bring itback tom mine. i kinda go to matts alot!! :P

yes mate i have the interior loom and im sure we can bribe harvy to bring it abit closer to yours unless of course you want to completely remove it yourself in which case it will be 25 quid collected ;)

are you talking about ditching the aux tank? or running pump and sender as 1 unit?

all clio 16vs came with the aux tank, so switching to a ph2 will only give you the fuel pump and sender unit in one place

coops has done it and I'm sure he put up a guide, but I can't find it :(

use the tank from a lower spec ph2 and you wont have the aux tank and a ph2 16v pump will fit it

i agree lower spec later type tank with the aux as thats a really bad bit on a track car...really bad...may even lose mine from the road car too...

Right so we're thinking a poverty spec phase 2 tank and filler neck with a phase 2 pump and interior loom? Will the filler neck from a poverty spec phase 2 fit to the flaired quarters of a valver? Has anyone done this?

think you *might* need the fuel filler cap too (so get it sprayed too) - any clio key works on them

wait for coops to come home from Nurburg and bug him :D

Any idea when coops returns? Is there any difference between normal phase 2 and phase 2 valver fuel pumps?

i don't think so mate think they both run 3 bar.. :) and i think the only difference in arch width could be compensated for with a slightly longer hose

though you should fit a aero type filler cap anyway....

Oh god don't put more idea's in my head or this project will never never finish!! LOL

as far as am aware with the physical bits of the tanks phase 1 and 2 are the same on valvers, just in phase one the sender and pump are seperate, but both still in the main tank

the aux tank simply holds more capacity, and is a passive system with no active pump over to the main, it just drains straight in, least it is in phase 2 and i cant see it being any different on phase 1

all i did was get a bypass pipe off a poverty spec clio, my doner car was a phase 3 5 door, so it shows any fits , chucked the aux tank and fitted the bypass pipe in its place, easy as 1-2-3 never touched the main tank or pump setup at all

yeah there's an external pump that transfers fuel between the aux and main tank if i remember correctly on phase one's.
