Phase 3 To Phase 2 Engine Management Conversion

Lewis

Well-Known Member
Currently Bob is running on phase 3 engine management after being converted by Roger from the original phase 1 management whilst he owned the car.

Basically I want to have the car mapped for the current setup whilst retaining the standard ecu however as far as I know it isn't possible to remap the phase 3 management ( please let me know if you know otherwise) so what needs to be changed so that I can run the phase1/2 ecu?

I know I will need to:
-Fit a Phase 1/2 Flywheel
-Remove the twin coil packs and core plug from the head
-Fit a distributor, different HT leads and coil pack.
-Fit a phase 1/2 ECU and engine wiring loom
-Fit a phase 1 Instrument Panel
-Remove the lambda sensor

I think that Roger moved a wire or added a wire in the drivers side chassis loom to get the tachometer to read correctly on the phase 3 setup, does anyone know which wire needs to be moved back?
Wiring diagrams of a phase 1 loom and a phase 3 loom should help here, Richard H can you get hold of a copy of these?

Anything I've missed or advice feel free to mention, Thanks.

Last Ph3>2 conversion I did, I didnt have to change the instrument panel. Rev counter worked as it should.

Otherwise, you got it covered I think mate.

Thanks Dave.
I'm sure the clocks that are currently fitted are phase 3 items but with a phase 1 fuel trip computer fitted to match up with the phase 1 fuel tank sender and give a correct level reading.
I think a call to Roger will be best to check about this wire in the chassis loom as well.
I want it done and all working first time.
