Phase 2 wheel paint colour

Hi All,

I am pretty damn sure this has been answered in previous forum messages, but I cant find a definitive answer.

Am I right in saying that it should be the same colour as the side pods? Or am I talking bowlocks....

I found on the forum here that the side pod colour is Titanium 647. Should I use that for the wheels?

Thanks

Martin

its not the same colour as the side pods. Its a much brighter shade, don't use titanium on the wheels, it doesn't look as good.

So if i am reading it correctly, its Renault Platinum SIlver?

I cannot find a definitive paint code for that colour.

The issue I have is that the wheels on my car look like they may have been painted before, but badly as the paint has flaked off. The issue there is that I dont believe it would be the best of ideas to get a refurb based on a colour match. I do know someone that has refurbed wheels for me recently for a Peugeot 205 GTi and did an EPIC job on them. They were so badly corroded I didnt think they would be salvageable.

All 6 wheels i sent to them are just amazing. Therefore, I would love to know the correct paint code, if anyone has it to hand.

Thanks

Martin

Hi Martin

I don’t think there’s an official paint code. The OE wheels were sort-of black with a thin veneer of silver. This is why they became dirty looking after a few thousand miles if the new owner used acid-based wheel cleaning products.

Apologies if the next bit is inaccurate, but the correct information is somewhere in the archives. I vaguely recollect that the wheel refurbishment outfits have identified ‘platinum silver’ (Ph2) and ‘sparkle silver’ (Ph1) as close matches.

The quality of the refurbishments will vary according to the provider. I hope that helps.

Personally, I ask SGM to attend to such matters and the outcome is always A1.

According to the label on the box when I bought new ones all those years ago the colour was 'Chrystal Silver'.

Likewise, I weirdly have similar photos of the wheel boxes showing 'Chrystal Silver'.
