phase 1 wiper problem

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping someone can help. I have been having problems with the front wipers on my phase 1, they only work on high speed and don't self park. I was advised by the garage it was the motor at fault but I bought a secondhand one which was tested with warranty and its doing exactly the same. Either I have been very unlucky or the garage is missing something.

Any ideas to the problem would be great.

Well first you should get a wiring diagram and then you test all the functions on the car side, optionally you have access to a Clip which allows you to easily check the switches and also the UCH. If there everything works perfectly, you should double check the same on the motor side and by then you will have found the problem.

Yes it's possible that you have been unlucky but there is also a good chance the garage was just to lazy to check it properly or they knew you wouldn't let them fix it and just said it would be the motor (which indeed is a weak point).

Thanks for the reply, I will try and get a second opinion and an auto electrician to have a look. I was hoping it might be something simple like a fuse or relay.
