Phase 1 rear brake caliper original factory finish

Does anyone know what finish the Phase 1 rear calipers had from the factory ? Mine have an old gold paint finish on them which looks original but i suspect this has been done by someone in the last 18 years. I presume they were just bright zinc (silver) finish. Any one with a very low mileage, all original phase 1 perhaps could help. Many thanks, Jules. :race:

Hi Jules,

This pic is from Johhny C's immaculate un-refurbished car showing the original finish for a phase 1:

Hi there. Thanks so much for the picture, that is helpful. Not very easy to see but those calpiers look to have a black finish on them, almost chemical black looking although probably greyed a bit now. At least that rules out the gold paint on mine. When i strip them I think i'll colour zinc (gold in colour like OEM brackets & bolts) them but with a chemical black finish on top for maximum oxidization resistance. That'll replicate the factory black finish, plus it matches the factory black front calipers. That is a very clean Phase 1 of Johhny C :approve: I've just completely restored the front suspension & front mechanicals on mine & i plan to do the same with the whole rear of the car this summer. Many thanks again :race:

Should be zinc plated and that is how refurbished calipers are done by Bendix and Bosch. Would they remanufacture calipers differently?
