Phase 1 Front Splitter

mattya

New Member
Hello all...

I have recently purchased a Phase 1 V6 and am loving it. Would be great to know what people do for front splitters as it appears to be a bit high at the front.

Please let me know...

Thanks!!

Welcome Matt,

I think they have some splitter knowledge other than the standard one underneath the front bumper

Hi there. Well there is no "splitter" fitted as standard just a rubber lip that is fixed underneath the front edge of the bumper with speed clips & self tapping type screws. These lips are no longer available from Renault but you can use a lip from a Skoda Fabia. You can also buy lengths of rubber "L" shape extrusion which is pretty much what was fitted originally anyway.

The alternative option is to fit a V6 Trophy splitter from the race car.

Do these fit straight on? Any modifications required?

Best person to comment would be redraven (Lee Holloway) as mine was already attached when I bought the car. It would be useful to learn whether Lee is running on standard coil springs / shocks - as mine has KWv3.

Be warned that obligatory Trophy wheels and Spoiler soon follow this path... lol!

No modifications required.

Just a bit of drilling needed for bolt holes.

Brian, are you running on standard springs/shocks?

No mate, KW V3's and the car is sat quite low.

Had the splitter made with the lip reduced to 15mm.

Hi Matt, welcome! Which car have you bought?

The trophy splitters really help pin the front end down at higher speed and certainly look great, but can be a pain if you have to go up any ramps!

Hi. It's a 2002 silver phase 1. I've had one in the past and also a Phase 2. Brilliant cars! I used to (about 12 years ago) use them as my daily but the one I have now is tucked up in the garage and only going to be used for events and car shows. I just want to do a few bits to make it look a little better. Where can the splitters be bought? Do you guys have meets?

I wouldn't bother. My ph2 has one (no idea which one) and it's so low it scrapes over tab butts and bird shite

Not sure it'll fit a ph1, never looked.

Seriously though, don't bother.
p4cks - that’s a Ph2 Russosport splitter. It was literally designed to take bumps & knocks (as it could be easily removed, repaired & painted with Halfrauds satin black).

My bumper was on it’s third respray at 12k miles but the splitter has spared it any damage since then.

On Facebook there’s a euro guy selling a discreet ‘flush’ Ph2 version for the same reason. It’s obviously not a problem that’s attributable to British roads...
