PH2 OEM Stereo Head Unit

Hi folks, not posted for years but I still own and adore my vee (over 12 years now) and still visit the forum.

Many years ago I foolishly removed the OEM Cabasse Auditorium head unit from my Ph2 vee and fitted an Alpine unit, I regret this now and would like to fit the original again, unfortunately my original isn't in the condition my vee deserves, it seems to have inherited the Renault melty plastic issues of the era, it also had a rattle to it after removing and turns out it was a dislodged capacitor.
Does anyone know if the OEM head unit is available to buy anywhere at a sensible price? Or can it be refurbished? I bought a mint almost identical unit from a Laguna but it has a slightly different finish to the vee's console which has a light glittering effect, otherwise it is a decent replacement. There seems to be many versions of this head unit with unique part numbers, I read somewhere that the vee was treated to a 60W stereo while everything else at the time got 40W. Any help very much appreciated, thanks.

This is on eBay at the moment. Looks correct? It says sticky...

I bought a 1999 Clio Initiale to acquire a few used bits and pieces (including head unit). My Ph1 currently has a Nakamichi unit (of its time!)

Thanks Kett but no that's not the AUDITORIUM TRONIC version, as I say there are so many different versions of this basic stereo. The Laguna one I fitted is also about 1mm too narrow each side so doesn't look quite right to a trained eye.

Here's the Laguna one fitted, £35 on ebay, excuse all the dust. As you can see it's slightly too narrow and has a matt finish compared to the vee's dash, also has a different font to the vee OEM stereo.

That’s crazy and really frustrating!

I assume the 182 head unit would match the Ph2 Vee - so shouldn’t be too difficult to find. Might even be worth scouting on Cliosport - but ebay is a safer bet.

My Clio 182 head unit is the same as that in my Phase 2 v6.

You can remove the sticky coating using kitchen bench degreaser and lighly scrape it off using a plastic ruler and finger nails. Take the panel off first of course. You’ll end up with the metallic dark gray painted finish underneath.

It’s a time consuming processs but worthwhile doing. I did that to all the sticky bits: door handles, dash top, head unit and climate control. Took me about 5 hours total over a few days.

As already said scout eBay as they’re exactly the same as phase 2 172 and early 182’s.
Just be careful you don’t buy an “update list” one as these are from late 05,55, 06 and have different looms and will not work.

And I have made the mistake of buying a Laguna one in the past - works fine but just doesn’t look right because it’s slimmer.
