PH2 For sale but for how much?

Spike

New Member
I have recently decided to sell my blue Ph 2 but I have no real idea of it's worth?
The decision is not taken lightly and I do want to sell, I just don't want to give it away. I thought a good idea would be to put it out to you lot to give me a better idea of where to start from? there are a lot of conflicting ideas on price but I need an idea where to start so as not to undersell myself. Clearly the first question is cam belt and the engine is out the car and being serviced at SG Motorsport as I write this.

Car is Illiad blue with just shy of 25000 on it.
As stated cam belt is being done as is a service at the mo. SG Motorsport.
Last serviced with main dealer at Sugdens in 09 but I have looked after this car myself since, even with the low miles I have done, it has had the oil changed with Mobil 1 every year, some years that's 5 miles!
Clutch done 5k ago by Sugdens when the engine was last out, as was water pump.
Car is bog stock.
Just come out of paint shop having all its stone chips addressed and fettled, bodywork is faultless. no bumper damage.
Just had two new headlamps, genuine from Reno.
New battery and also had the modified starter fitted.
Brand new fuel pump and regulator.
New plugs and coil packs, changed to Valeo, never had an issue.
No dephaser clatter or clicks and knocks of any kind.
Std interior trim, no mods.
Good tyres, pilot sport all round.
MOT start of this month.

Where should I be with this on price, I am planning to sell as soon as Scott has finished with it.

Hi Spike,

I think Carl Read's had similar mileage which sold recently. I have no idea about previous owners etc.
Duncan is the best person advise you. Ping him a PM!

Hi Spike, sorry to hear your having to think selling.

As you rightly say, pricing is all over the show these days. For such a great example in ready to go condition, I would suggest that it would be worth top money and would approximate around 30k Based upon recent sales.

Best of luck with the sale, I suggest to anyone reading this, if your in the market for a properly nice ph2 that they can use straight away, this car should be on your radar!

If I speak with potential buyers, I will point them in this direction.

Duncan,

Thanks for your advice, £30k would be nice but cannot get my head around how these cars have risen in value, I did not buy the car expecting to get more than I paid but when you actually look back on what has been spent on the car it time and effort, and also the low mileage it sort of makes sense if you really want one and want a good one. I have been around these for a few years now with the exhaust involvement and some underneath are cleaner than the inside, and its a tribute to owners who are prepared to go to these lengths to keep the cars looking this way as an appreciating asset.

As said if you have any potential buyers the car is at Scott's and I have spoke with him about showing folk around the car when its done, I don't think I will be in any position to collect the car from him until end of march anyway.

I will post when the car is ready and consider my options as I only have one go at this but it has to go, if I dwell on it too long I may change my mind.

When I saw it fresh out the body shop I was tempted all over again!

Kett: Thanks for the link.

Scott is finished with the car, loads done including the belts. I have to say Scott is super thorough, he found a broken front spring that the Mot man missed! As per his advice two new Reno one's fitted.
I need to pay the bill and collect the car but I think my starting point will be £28k.
Anyone out there wanting one PM me or contact Scott at SG Motorsport.
