Hi to all
I’m Marco, from Italy, looking for one Ph.1 vee.
Thank you to all in advance for all precious infos i’m getting in this wonderful forum!! :-)
I’ve one quesstion: looking for one ph.1 located in south France, car dealer says that there’s no id.plate inside as this is a “pre-series” vee, only 5 built.
What about this? Is it true? Anyone have more info about?
Thank you again!

Maybe but not sure.
I did a search on the forum but nothing found about “pre-series” cars...
Waiting for superexpert forum guys! [smilie=thanks.gif]

Pre series is the french term for pre-production.

These cars came after the mules/prototype cars and were largely used for things such as the original press launches, motorshows, development tests (such as cold testing/warm testing). They were not supposed to be sold to the public. But, as TWR went into liquidation these were sold off by the liquidators.

These do not have ID plaques as they were not part of the production run and not customer cars.

There are way more than 5 though!! There were 50 pre production cars in total, but around 25 of them which are similar to the car advertised.

These have PP numbers assigned to them (pre-production) and some of them have interesting stories behind them. Not all survived.

They cannot be registered on the road in France (hence being on a dealer plate), but can in Germany, or England - I do not understand the nuances of the French 'Control Technique' as to why this is.

It would be great to find out the VIN number and if there is a PP number visible through the windscreen where the VIN normally would be. Also, it may have a special TWR plaque inside the front on the chassis leg.

Intrestingly, there is another of the PP cars for sale in Germany at the minute, there are better photos on the advert and you can see some of the unique development features (battery kill, phase 2 development engine): link

Great info Duncan. :approve:

Looks like the seller does not realise that the one for sale in Germany is a pre-production car.

Interesting to see a seam weld on the plenum cover, and what's with the orange gear shift boot?

Thank you Duncan very appreciated!
Definitively in Italy i don’t think it could be possible to register it , as need the COC and maybe this car doesn’t have it.
Or better, maybe it would be possible but need a lot of burocracy, test controls by italian register and more and more...
I have to check about.. and at fhe same time try to investigate with this seller about PP SERIAL no. or something other, but the dealer doesn’t seem to be too much collaborative , maybe due to the lockdown...

Yes, your right, a chap from v6 passion said he went to see it and said the bloke didn’t know it was a pre-prod car. He also mentioned it went well, so it may have a few more horses than the production cars.

The orange gear shift boot (and trophy spoiler) are mods done by previous private owners.

He knows something is unusual as they mention in the description "some Cup parts have been fitted"
