Petrol gauge

I had a flat battery last night and changed for a new one this morning

I also filled up with fuel - I noticed that the gauge only went up half way - the trip computer seems to have only registered the fact that its halfway as only showing between 140 miles until next fill up.

I noticed that this problem came up before - but was never resolved!

I have done the reset trip thing as in the knowledge base but still no luck only registers as halfway [smilie=icon_aaargh.gif]

Does Tim still have his V6? He was original poster of thread.

Also any other suggestions - just left Main Stealers this morning getting bonnect catch sorted - dont want to go again!

Sounds like you are having a labour of love with your new car Kevin ...

I guess these things are just teething problems but some of it may be related to the cars history - didn't you have a fuel leak the other day ? Could it be that the tank was damaged/knocked in any accident the car may have had before you bought it ? You got the car for a good price and so a little maintenance and repair is to be expected ...

Check fuel sender connectors from the tank to make sure they are not damaged. If you can get at the fuel sender inside the tank you could also check this too - assuming it's easily accesible.

Another thought ... Are you sure the tank is full ? Try brimming the tank to ensure it is full rather than being half full as the gauge suggests ...

Lol yes deffo teething problems but nothing major - fortunately.

Car has been great other than these things! Infact have just bought new wheels, tyres, splitter and a few other goodies!

The fumes seem intermitent havent had them all week - so only when driven hard and when windows down.

The car wasnt in an accident - have had it up on ramp and and checked fuel tank etc - no damage there.

'Check fuel sender connectors' - where is this? Do we have a how to here?

Tank is deffo full - put £60 of Bp's finest this morning - however will double check tommorow.

This is deffo an electrical problem somewhere - battery was totally dead yesterday, was still on original Renault battery. Like the other guy ( Tim ) had posted when a new battery was put in fuel gauge didnt register correctly - although trip computer is????

Good to hear your on top of things Kevin, owning a car like a Vee has it's small challenges for most owners and it is all part of the fun of owning one :-)

Is the Vee petrol tank moulded plastic BTW ? I can't remember ...

You seem to have a good car and the project of getting it 100% to your liking is probably quite enjoyable too ...

Have you tried a reset of the trip cpmputer and the dials, mine did a similar thing and the 'master reset ' worked and sorted it ok, i think the instructions are in the knowledge area.
