petrol fumes (UPDATE)

well guys , after a week of having the vee i can still smell a slight whiff of petrol under full load , so today i took the V into my local (plymouth mumfords renault ) dealership and voiced my concerns ..firstly i must say they were very accomadating and booked the car in there and then to be checked out .. they simulated driving conditions on a rolling road but could smell nothing , the advisor then asked me under what driving conditions was the smell apparent . once i d told her it was under full load conditions she asked for my permission to allow the technition to road test the vehicle himself under the same conditions ..a little on the spot i agreed and watched as my cherished pull out of view at the hands of a renault mechanic .. upon his return i was told that he couldnt smell fuel unless the windows were down and that they will be replacing the fuel tank and seals under warranty .

according to the warranty history this has already been done once before  are the fuel tanks /seals a noted weakness?
i poodled off toward home and the first time i reach the higher rev range the smell is obvious , windows up !!! as much as im pleased renault have taken my complaints seriousley and are aiming to rectify them i cant help but wonder whether theyve pinpointed the actual problem , and to top it off there now seems to be a very subtle whine from the gearbox that i dont re call hearing when i parked the car up at the dealership , hope the technition has nt crunched the be jesus out of the box , its lovely to have a new car like the vee but im so precious over it at the mo , i want it to stay tight and new forever

fair play to renault for doing this quickly. you really can't take any risks with tanks/fuel lines/seals.

Maybe he's doing the gags for Comic relief tonight ;-)

Despite the fact picture 3 is pretty terrible it does look an amazing picture - almost a firebreathing Vee. It could probably be photoshopped into a a promo shot - and I don't mean a promo shot for pikeys and arsonists !

I can't smell what I would call fumes, but my does some times have a engine smell, like my landrover did and also a beetle and 911, it could be the mid engine thing
