Owned for 9 years

As the title says, I have owned my Vee for around 9 years and I feel that she needs some TLC. So today I stripped all the brakes, rear callipers will got to BigRed for a overhaul, my new disks were wire brushed and the hubs painted to protect them from rusting.

Front inner arches removed and cleaned with meguiars super degreasers, and front bumper removers for a stone chip re-paint, so I had a busy day.

Now my question is suspension struts and hubs, there are looking like a 9 year old cars would, fine on most cars but I want my car to be really looked after. What is the best way to sort this. Remove everything and get it powder coated (need to remove bearings on the hub) or wire brush primer and matt spray? Will remove it all from the car to get a good finish but its the hubs with bearings that stops me from sending it all to get powder coated?

What is the way ahead?

Just to let you know, Big Red won't touch your front calipers with them being specialised AP calipers. Thats what they told me anyhow, they also dont carry the seal kits. They will refurb your rears though, Citroen/bendix units.

Ate they past the cleaning stage ? You could get a product such as iron-x and see what improvement that does ... As it removes metal contamination to great affect

Sorry, just re-read your post.. Sounds like you're only sending rears to them anyway.

I did hear about the fronts, is it to do with the sandblasting process?

I am getting some from cleanyoucar along with some aero 303 so they might clean up. Do think the hubs need repainting.

I'm not quite sure why they won't do them, when I spoke to them at the time of doing mine a few years back, it sounded like they'd had some problems doing AP and Brembo caliper refurbs, so they just concentrate on main stream stuff.

303 is a plastic dressing product.

Your right Ali, that's for the under arches and under bonnet etc.
You did something similar to this Ali a few years back?
