Out of storage and its not running well

Help,

Hope your all well I have just taken the V6 out of storage and its not running well if anyone has had the following symptoms your help would be appreciated.

I dont trust the local renault dealor to give me an honest answer to the problem so it would be good to know whats up before I take it in to them.

1. The warning light for monitoring exhaust gas is permanantly lit

2. The idle is very low and unsteady it sometimes cuts out when slowing down.

3. I can hear a metalic rattle coming from the rear nearside of the engine bay.

4. It now sounds like a bloody Subaru Imprezza even with standard exhaust

Any help would be appreciated.

My bloody spelling is really bad I blame mobile phones and spell checkers.

Hello ...

Dare I say it - the dreaded coil monster ?

Hey and we wanna see some pics of your ICE setup - we have had deep withdrawel syptoms old boy !

Martin

How do you test for knackered coils?

Ill get some pics posted soon I havent got a digital camera so ill have to borrow one.

Basically - disconnect each one in turn (one at a time) and listen for the one which does NOT alter the engine note. There is a remote possibility you have two gone but the same process can be used but guess you would have to listen harder.

Your local dealer may carry spares so this could be a cheapish DIY job for you assuming it is a coil ;-)

Pull the connectors off the coils one by one you should hear the engine drop a cylinder each time, when you come to one that doesnt its faulty.

Aren't they about £35 quid or something maybe a bit more - fitting is easy on a Mk2 allegedly, but to me it looks easy ;-)

LOL - wideboy beat me to it this time - how about that for service, Poundrick is away for months and he gets advice at 23:30 at night - storming forum this ;-)

Thanks for the help, where else can you go at 11.30pm for help.

Hey Jainy the car went into storage after I had a pretty bad crash into a kerb on Morrisons car park in Rochdale, made a right mess of the front end.

The front end should be finished this weekend then just need to sort this coil proble, and she will be back on the road.

Its going to be good to at last make some use of the install after 6 long months.

Hey hun.....

If you're fixed up and fully fettled for the 5th May - get yourself along to our Blackpool meet....!! Should be a blast....!!! (Literally..!!) :powa:

Hope your baby is sorted soon...!!
