Hi there just noticed my service light has come on and it's saying I have no oil, but I don't have my manual with me, can anyone help me out and tell me what type of oil I need please? :)

Drive for 100m. Turn car off and see if it's gone off. Mine does that alot.

Mobil1 15w50 for me! Have used it in all my cars. It's more for racing and harduse.

I've done as you suggested Ali and sadly nope the light is still on! Just gonna check my dipstick first but i'm guessing I need oil!

As for what you use Ali, I don't do any trackdays or whatever, should I still use that type or not?

I guess it probably does say a recommended grade of oil in the manual but I don't have it with me and don't want to risk driving back home to get it :-/

Thanks James, I looked and looked for that but couldn't find it!!

I checked the dipstick, looked ok from what I could see (after ignoring the smearing as much as I could lol), certainly not empty anyway, started the car up again, and it said oil ok and no service light?!?!?! Ah well lol

so 5/40 10/40 and 15/50? mines on 5/40 at the mo but gonna change it soon, on 34k so what would be best?

Silkolene Pro-S 10/50 is my choice for both my cars and has been for several years but some may prefer 5/40 ...

Check out Opieoils

Simon (oilman) posts on many motor club forums and there are often offers on ;-)

If you go to any dealer/supplier etc and give them the reg and make of car it always brings up 5w40...which is what I use
