I have a non abs driveshaft in the garage which i want to fit to an abs car, is the toothed abs ring avaliable seperatly and can you attach it to a non abs shaft?

you can

tbh, it's easier to just buy a whole new outer CV joint... they're relatively cheap

Just to dig this one back up, I now have 2 non abs driveshafts and want to put them on my car which has abs. Could i take the toothed ring off the driveshafts on the car once they're off? Is it easy to attach it to the non abs driveshaft?

Would it be much more simple to just get rid of the abs altogether?

Im doing an ABS removal guide as we speak mate. Its half complete in the member section i just need to upload photos and the final design

Its cost me 65 quid to remove it and has been a relatively simple job so far!

Like I said earlier... easier just to buy a whole new outer CV joint
the rings are swappable though

Is there a difference between the abs and non abs outer cv joints? I want to use these shafts as they're pretty much brand new with the boots + bearings etc... Do you mean change the cv boot on the new shafts, or the ones already on the car?

I saw your guide mate but not too sure i've got the time or the skill to remove it lol.

So if i want to use the new shafts i need to fit the abs rings, or i could just sell them on and change my existing cv joints, hmm... have to think about this one.

Are the boots relatively new? Might sell the non abs ones and take yours if so

I'm removing ABS from my valver and have some good ABS shafts i'd swap for non ABS

Just realised, tripple post back there, works computer messed up

I really would prefer to use these shafts and it really depends on how tricky it is to put the abs ring onto the shaft? Is it a case of screwing it on? Not had the oppertunity to look yet.

Kiz, your quite a way from my but i'll give you a pm if i do decided to swap and wag1, i'll drop you a pm if you still have the abs shafts when/if i need them...

think so might but need to be careful..does the haynes not say.... :D

heating them might help but need to be careful with that also...

Dragging this up again, today i got the abs ring off one of my shafts, but the non abs shaft has a solid cap on the end, does this come off? Its too big to fit the ring over.
