Noises from the back(Boot lid)

there's some noises from the back kept on bugging me(MK1)
so i goto my trunk and take a look, the hatch is loose when closed
then i opened it up, the little pin/lock can be wiggled....
then i put in a torx screwdriver behind and trying to tighten it up, it is very tight already(both ways, not sure if it is seized or what)
anyone had the very same problem?
anyone out there care to check their hatch for me?

Yea,

I had a look at mine a while back and the pin is free floating, I think it might be to make sure there are no alignment problems so the boot closes properly with no crunching/miss alignment noises.

I have a couple of rattle type noises fromt he back end of mine, I think it might be the engine cover on mine though just being a bit loose at the front.

I know it sounds daft but might be worth checking the tool box, if something was loose in there it might make a similar noise to the boot being loose.

Mine wiggles too. I believe it's supposed to.

how bout the whole hatch, does it move when closed?
mine does...weird?
maybe there's a plastic trim or something missing in between?

thanks all, i have found out, it is just the piece on the trunk, its freaking loose
